"William Miller: So Russell... what do you love about music?

Russell Hammond: To begin with, everything.

For three consecutive days, i've drawn out watching one of my all-time favourite films - Almost Famous.
It's one of the best things to watch a movie that is not only magic but is clearly made by someone who loves music. I don't see the point of a film without a good soundtrack, it's the backbone of the story and it makes me envious every time a piece of music kicks in to compliment a monumental/subtle/inconsequential moment in the story. 'Cause really, who wouldn't want a soundtrack to their life.
Elizabethtown is another example of Cameron Crowe's musical infatuation, a lesser film but one that won me over with its soundtrack and road maps.
If you're a music lover and you haven't watched either, shame on you.

This is a list of all the music used in Almost Famous, not a bad song in there:

Black Sabbath - "Sweet Leaf"

"Well Frank settled down in the Valley and hung his wild years on a nail that he drove through his wife's forehead he sold used office furniture out there on San Fernando Road and assumed a $30,000 loan at 15 1/4 % and put down payment on a little two bedroom place his wife was a spent piece of used jet trash made good bloody marys kept her mouth shut most of the time had a little Chihuahua named Carlos that had some kind of skin disease and was totally blind. They had a thoroughly modern kitchen self-cleaning oven (the whole bit) Frank drove a little sedan they were so happy.

One night Frank was on his way home from work, stopped at the liquor store, picked up a couple Mickey's Big Mouths drank 'em in the car on his way to the Shell station, he got a gallon of gas in a can, drove home, doused everything in the house, torched it, parked across the street, laughing, watching it burn, all Halloween orange and chimney red then Frank put on a top forty station got on the Hollywood Freeway headed north.

Written in a sleepy haze.
I miss writing in quaint fonts and inexplicably slanted lines

2007, thank you for Justin Vernon, he made two thousand and eight sound more wondrous than i could have hoped for.

A delusional boy and his sex doll.
I couldn't possibly love it more.
Ryan Gosling can do no wrong.

I think perhaps this essay has demolished my brain. Urk.

Six of the drawings for EDADID.
Two still to photograph. One to draw. Hopefully i'll catch up with the posting!

1. a copy of a Seurat i did for my Paw
2. a christmas card for my Mum to be multiplied and send out. I couldn't draw holly. Ridiculous
3. a bastardized version of a Rinko Kawauchi photograph
4. a bastardized version of Oliver H's photograph, 'Postmodernity'
5. a bastardized version of Bas Jan Ader's face during his short film 'I'm Too Sad To Tell You'
6. another silverpoint of one of Bas Jan Ader's many expressions during 'I'm Too Sad To Tell You' - I've fallen a bit in love with it

It was my assessment hand-in day today, well, technically yesterday. Colour me frantic. Feedback is thursday with a tutor i don't know. That'll be nice. A new face, a new opinion. Hopefully not a bad one!
Ucht, i miss being quietly insecure, these days i stomp about in a panic-driven frenzy. Oh, what a joy i'll be in 4th year =]

snowshoe

The forecast predicts no snow this week coming.
Gutted.

"...one night after supper, Dub turned up a snowshoe rabbit, blundered it, and missed. In a second the whole team was in full cry. A hundred yards away was a camp of the Northwest Police, with fifty dogs, huskies all, who joined the chase. The rabbit sped down the river, turned off into a small creek, up the frozen bed of which it held steadily. It ran lightly on the surface of the snow, while the dogs plowed through by main strength. Buck led the pack, sixty strong, around bend after bend, but he could not gain. He lay down low to the race, whining eagerly, his splendid body flashing forward leap by leap, in the wan white moonlight. And leap by leap, like some pale frost wraith, the snowshoe rabbit flashed on ahead."

I am now the proud possessor of my very first DeviantArt Daily Deviation =]
I've been after one of these since 2005!
The work in question is 'Four'
Giddy, just doesn't quite cover it. Especially with the impressive artistic meltdown i've been having since September =]
It's going to take years to reply to all these messages!
Lovely =]

Bad blogging of late, assessments and essays took precedence, they still are in fact. Grumble. I have however been partaking in a little project thought up by Jen Collins - if you were at the degree show you will remember her amazing little tea monsters - called Every Day A Drawing Day In December which i found through Miss Sanna Dyker, who is lovely enough to follow my little blog and let me follow hers. I suggest everybody have a gander at their blogs as they're full of fantastical things.
I hope to get the six drawings i've done on here later this evening, right now, however, i need to drink copious amounts of tea and watch Stranger Than Fiction in the dark.

Going into uni on a Saturday has confused my brain.
