a declaration of love

My sister and I went to see the The Avengers last week.
Consider my world rocked.
Joss Whedon, you know you're my hero.
You gave me Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Serenity, Dollhouse, Dr Horrible, Fray and oh so many nerdy one-liners and knowledge i could probably ace a degree in your life's work.
But nothing gives me more fangirl glee, than my sister and i turning to each other simultaneously and excitedly mouthing, 'Victor!', when we clock Enver Gjokaj.
You are made of awesome Mr Whedon.
Direct all the comic book adaptations from now on?

Somewhat obsessed.

What the frak, Soderbergh?
Were you sleepy when you made this?
Super disappointed.
Give me Out of Sight, Erin Brockovich or Sex, Lies, and Videotape any day.
However, Ewan McGregor getting bitch-slapped all over the place?
Nailed it.

So happy right now because of this.

Completely fallen for this Montreal/LA duo.
Completely fallen for shoegaze, at last.

If you're lucky enough to be in London throughout June and July, check out Gin & Juice, a group exhibition featuring work from James Jean, Cleon Peterson, Andrew Schoultz, Richard Colman and Ryan Travis Christian. It looks set to be pretty easy on the eyes.

Ivory & Black will be hosting the event.

vilde chaya

Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.

Maurice Sendak died yesterday at the age of 83.
This made me so sad.

A note to my sister:
Do not watch this.
Here be zombies.

Lovely, lovely fanboys
You totally wouldn't judge me for uttering the words,

Shit! I've lost the Corpse Bride's flowers again!

For you are my people

Toy Story has ruined me.

Having just black bagged some old toys to go up in the loft, i now feel a little like a toy murderer.
The logical and well adjusted side of my brain knows they don't actually have feelings but the five year old girl part of my brain is wide-eyed and sobbing at the possibility that i just sent some beloved soft toys up to their doom in lofty purgatory...

I blame Pixar for this!

Of The Days

I've become somewhat bewitched by L.D. Brown's solo project, Grey Reverend.
It's the kind of music you want to fold yourself up in and hibernate to.
