avilion

When i finish a book i've really enjoyed, i tend to hug it.
...
I know.
Crazy girl hugs literature?
What a surprise.
But it acts as a reliable indicator that i've got a lot of love for the story, as i always perform this little ritual without realising it until afterwards.
Thus why, i whole-hearterdly recommend getting yourself heavily involved with Robert Holdstock's, Mythago Cycle
Only two books in and i'm a complete goner.

I'm not entirely to be trusted but as far as i can gather, the books in the series are to be read in this order:

The Bone Forest
Gate of Ivory, Gate of Thorn
Mythago Wood
Avilion
Lavondyss
The Hollowing

But i would suggest starting with Mythago Wood, as the other two are prequels to the story.
And it's the one i read first.
And i'm clearly all-knowing.
...
Shut up.

They're great books - I've read and re-read them many times over the years. Also recommended is "Ancient Echoes" - by Robert Holdstock. It's not part of the Mythago Cycle, but has very strong connections in terms theme and style.

I will add it to the list. Thanks! Now i have to go and figure out what i'm gonna read now. This part always makes me nervous for some reason.
