"i don't always put too much reason/story behind an image, but this one is different. it holds a special place in my heart. this was taken in my grandfather's home, the same home i spent countless summer days in, running through the hallways and up the stairs, often playing dress up and other games with my cousins.

my grandfather passed away in may, and the days and weeks after were the most difficult and darkest moments of my life. he was (and always will be) one of the most important people in my life. he was always supportive of my photography, bragged about me to his senior citizen friends often, and even joked that he couldn't wait until I photographed for playboy. the two years prior to his death, i would try to visit him when i could (as i no longer lived in the same town as he). we'd play bingo, eat dinner, and sometimes just watch tv together on the couch. i loved him so much.

but the reason why i chose here to take this self portrait is because those walls and those rooms hold so many memories, so many good memories, but it still saddens me to think about them."
