This is Stewart Tower Dairy.
I was taken here by a childhood friend when i was in my late teens, after a summery day spent with other playmates in the lovely little town of Dunkeld.
The building was initially a horse engine house, constructed in the early to mid 1800s and has been lovingly restored into a coffee shop and ice cream parlour for the people of Perthshire to enjoy at will between the hours of 10am and 4pm, 7 days a week.
The tower sits next to their own farm.
Cows reside there.
The Stewart Tower people produce their freshly made ice cream from this well fed, well looked after cattle and wouldn't do it any other way.
And that's why their ice cream tastes so damn good.
And with flavours like these, i'm not surprised they've stuck in my head as some magical, dairy-based atlantis:
Raspberry Ripple
Bakewell Tart
Perthshire Cream Tea
Orange Marmalade Cheesecake
Yoghurt, Raspberry and Muesli
Mince Pie
Mint Choc Chip
Amaretti Biscuit
and
Crème Egg
For years i've been trying to remember where this place was.
Not being a navigational savant, i had no idea where i was going until my friend and i rocked up on their doorstep with wide eyes and hungry bellies but even when we left, i still had no idea where i was.
You won't be surprised to know that i get lost.
Easily.
But now i've found it with the wonder of google.
All i need is for my sister to drive me there and let me stuff my lactose intolerant face.
It's worth the consequences.
Trust me.
They do have fruit ices in a variety of flavours though, if you've got more sense than i:
Green Apple
Elderflower
Tropical Fruit
...
Now i'm hungry.
Guh.
To the town car!
