In all honesty, i'm surprised it's taken this long to make just one Jeff Buckley movie, let alone three.
But who cares, that gives us a chance of at least one of them being halfway decent.

1.

Greetings From Tim Buckley

Penn Badgley is an odd choice but after his weird/charming performance in Easy A, i'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Plus, he actually does a pretty solid impression of the man himself:

2.
Mystery White Boy

This is where it all gets a bit messy.
Mostly due to the internet giving me several different answers and quite frankly being an uninformative bitch but as far as i can tell, Reeve Carney was supposed to play Buckley but a change of director altered the plans and now James Franco is the most likely candidate?
I don't know.
Just as long as it happens, as this is the only official biopic out of the three that has the rights to use Buckley's actual music, including of course his most famous cover of Leonard Cohen's, Hallelujah.

I'm not entirely sure how i feel about Franco in the role but he keeps on surprising me.
His turn as Allen Ginsberg in Howl was nothing short of mesmerising.
And he was pretty damn magnificent in 127 Hours.
So, we'll see.
He's certainly a better choice than Carney, who i just watched in The Tempest.
...
He was not all that impressive.
Pretty.
But his acting chops just aren't up to scratch.
Saying that, i'd take him over the other rumoured choice, Robert Pattinson.
If Sparkles gets the part...we riot.

3.
A Pure Drop

Like Greetings From Tim Buckley, the tribute concert Buckley performed of his father's work is to be the centrepiece of the movie and is based around Jeff Apter's 2008 biography of the same name.
It will take a closer look at the dysfunctional and almost non-existence relationship between Jeff and his revered father.
I'm unsure as to how this is any different to Greetings but who knows.
They don't even have their leading man yet so anything could happen.
But i repeat.
If Sparkles gets the role, we riot.

Now for some actual Jeff because he's beautiful and no one even comes close:
