I won't say don't buy me anything as I know that makes you want to smash me across the face with a phone book :)

Yellow Pages, actually.
The highlighter yellow would really make the violence pop :)

WE HAD SNOW!
Only a little flurry, but still.
SNOWWWW!
Charlie's out being confused in it right now. Such a little idiot 0_0

I've got a new show for you to watch: What We Do in the Shadows.
It's stupidly adorable and funny, and on the iplayer, so it's freeeee!
I'm one season in and obsessed *-*

Dex said...

Is it like the film? I've seen the film :)

Charlie's probably thinking 'what is this white stuff that has covered my kingdom?' :)

Hardly news but I got my booster today. Someone in the office said that NHS Shetland were holding a walk in clinic at Gilbertson Park today and tomorrow for anyone who wanted it. I wasn't going to go but someone else went and said there were no queues. So Kerry and I ended up going at about 2pm. There was hardly anybody there, we got stabbed, made to wait for 15 minutes to make sure we didn't explode, then went back to the office :)

Louise Boyd said...

I think it's better than the film. Way better.
Dave Berry's having the time of his fucking life in it.
It's adorable ^-^

...we got stabbed, made to wait for 15 minutes to make sure we didn't explode, then went back to the office :)

That feels like the opening line of a story.
Like something Iain Banks would've written.
A little twisted, a like dark, a little hilarious.

I don't know if I'll get a booster jab unless it's offered, mostly because I never hear about things going on in town!
The life of antisocial hermit with their nose permanently affixed in a book.

Dex said...

You mean Matt Berry? :) Having watched a few clips, I think I'm going to relate most to the Energy Vampire :) Speaking of Matt Berry, did you ever watch Garth Marenghi's Darkplace?

Well, I have to make my boring life sound a little more interesting :) I'm terrible for keeping up with the news! I just rely on the people around me to tell me what's going on :)

I was half expecting to feel like shit today but I seem to have gotten lucky. Slightly sore arm and slightly achy body seems to have been about the height of it.

Louise Boyd said...

Fuck!
I always do that.
The number of times Em and Sar have to correct me is ludicrous >_<
And Matt Berry's so much better than Dave Berry!
If I ever met him, I'd probably call him Dave by accident. The shame x_x
And yes, I've seen Garth Merenghi's Dark Place but... I can't remember a thing about it =/

Nadja's my favourite in the show. She's batshit crazy but also adorable. Exactly my kind of woman :)

HOW IS IT THE 5TH OF DECEMBER? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? 0_0
You can send me sugar as well, by the way. I basically want to face-plant into a vat chocolate right now, so it'd be welcome :)

Dex said...

I thought maybe it was some kind of in-joke or pop culture reference that I was completely out of loop on. Obviously, in real life I would have just smiled and nodded and assumed I was missing something that everyone else was aware of :)

When you said you couldn't remember a thing about this show, I thought maybe that was an in-joke too :) https://youtu.be/bnQ1gA-_WLE?t=96

Does your family ever make wish lists for Christmas or birthdays?

Louise Boyd said...

Hah! Oh man, I wish I hadn't just been being an oblivious idiot :D
Look at what a baby he was!
I need to see the new Moomin show, he's the voice of Moominpappa and that is quite possibly the most majestic thing I've ever heard 0_0

It's required we make Christmas/Birthday lists.
Mine are legendary. I think I had one that was 25 pages long once =/ I like stuff. A lot.
I'm doing mine right now (which is killing my arm; fucking tennis elbow) and it's awesome.
So many books *-*

I forgot to tell you, I've been using these spot patches recently:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Breakout-SkinChoice-Hydrocolloid-Cruelty-Free-Patches/dp/B08YW1JLCP/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2/259-3815677-4201657?pd_rd_w=0ZhS8&pf_rd_p=c7ea61ca-7168-47e3-9c8b-d84748f5b23c&pf_rd_r=0SZZ7NPXQYMZB424JFXB&pd_rd_r=a19a8dae-6cc6-44cc-82bd-230fa434a1d2&pd_rd_wg=rMUJV&pd_rd_i=B08YW1JLCP&psc=1

And they're so good.
I've only tried them on breakouts I've messed with so far, but they really take down the redness and swelling, and get rid of all the bad crap lurking in your pores.
The healing time's pretty fucking spectacular as well.
Normally I'm fighting with breakouts for dayssss until they finally fuck off but these are magic 0_0
I haven't been impressed with anything skincare-wise for years but these blew me fucking away.
Definitely Lilliputty approved :)

Dex said...

It took me so long to realise the Moomins were such a big thing! The only thing I remember about them from my childhood was one of the cartoon shows. It's like Ghibli. I didn't even know what that was until about 2004! How did I grow up without a Totoro?! :)

I just knew you'd make amazing Christmas/Birthday lists :) Of course, I already knew that you like a lot of stuff. I really do love that about you :) Obviously, I make life as difficult as possible for people to figure out what to get for me! That's why I end up with things like slippers :) Someone was saying the other day that they've never seen me get excited about anything... I never really thought that about myself but it's probably true :S Except when I got No-Face, then I was excited :D

Thank you for the recommendation, Lilliputty. I really could use all the help I can get. And if you have endorsed them, then they must be good! I don't know if my skin will ever be as clear as I want it to be - I just want it to go back to the way it was! I did get exactly what I deserved for bragging about my skin though :)

Louise Boyd said...

Yeah, that arrogance really bites you in the ass sometimes.
I have this incredibly vivid memory of walking to high school with two friends who both had really bad acne, and them both jokingly cursing me for having clear skin and not even trying.
I didn't even think about it then, other than being a little smug but oh boy, now?
Now I want to go back in time and shake my idiot self for not appreciating how good having clear skin is >_<
When will this breakout hell end?! 0_0
Adult acne's the worst as well, because you're like, isn't this supposed to happen when I'm a teenager, not a full grown fucking adult?! x_x
Skin's so stupid.
Scratch that, skin's amazing, HORMONES are stupid.

And to think I was worried about sending you No-Face :)
Best present decision I ever made.
Thank fuck I've got an Emily to make these things for me =/
Still haven't to a Totoro out of her yet, though. Hmm. Methinks I need to enact some baby sister manipulation :)

Dex said...

I'm so jealous of your talented sister. Is there a special room in your house where people make stuff, like some kind of workshop?

You may get something in the post over the next day or so. It's nothing original, more of a panic buy! I promise I'll make it up to you on our birthday.

You'll get back to having clear skin, Lilliputty. I'm really glad those patches are helping.

Louise Boyd said...

There is no room, we've tried, but the parentals are too bloody messy and end up leaving junk in whatever room's been designated the "make awesome stuff" abode.
Em usually makes stuff in her room or the kitchen table if she's lucky enough to get the parents to fuck off somewhere and be annoying there.
I love my parents but fuck, they're everywhere >_<

A panic buy, you say? Now I'm super intrigued.
I've yet to buy a thing!
But I'm giving myself a pass because my body is broken.
The tennis elbow has given my referred pain in my left upper back.
I could sleep last night because a ghost kept stabbing a knife into my shoulder blade =/
I\m not enjoying this, Dexterous. Am I going to crumble like a Skeksi?!

Dex said...

Yes, parents are everywhere! Is Emily's room full of crafty things then?

I'm sorry, Lilliputty. I'd miss you terribly if you crumbled to dust! My dad has a really sore back today as well. Apparently it came on yesterday evening when he bent to pick up some cds! He can barely get up out of a chair at the moment.

I have to go to the film quiz tonight and I hate going anywhere these days, especially when it is dark and windy. And we ran out of tea. So not a good day :)

Louise Boyd said...

Em's room's a wonder. Whenever I go in, I can't help but touch things. It's all so sparkly *-*
She even has an entire metal lunchbox full of post-its.
...
She's so weird and cool.

Your poor dad's back, I feel his pain, even though I feel better today.
It's less like being stabbed in the shoulder blade, more like a vicious clench of the muscle =/
BUT my arm hurts more again today, so the pain is obviously transferring back.
...
Bodies are fucked x_x

Okay, how'd you do at quiz night? Any impressive questions answered by your awesome self?

Dex said...

I wish I was as weird and cool as you and Emily.

I didn't do too well. I remembered the name of a Jenny Agutter film. I recognised someone dressed up as the girl from Metropolis. And Catbus! That was the most exciting moment :) And that was about it.
They had this round where they gave all the teams party poppers and had a close up image on the big screen. Then they would gradually zoom out and the first team to pop their poppers and give the right answer won the point. I can't cope with things like that. And the whole thing went on forever. It was 10.45 before I got home. Such a grump :)

Is there any kind of exercises you can do to ease tennis elbow? I hate that you're always getting these pains. It's not fair!

My family always blame sore backs on 'Uncle Joe'. He was the murderer in this detective story who stabbed his brother in the back, but because the brother had lumbago, he didn't realise he'd been stabbed so went to bed and died. Yeah, we're a bunch of weirdos :)

Louise Boyd said...

At first I thought that Uncle Joe thing was beyond bonkers but... we blame tripping over ourselves and inexplicable noises on the ghosts of our deceased cats, so... weird families unite! :D

Was the Jenny Agutter film, Logan's Run perchance?
I ask, because it's the only other movie of hers I know besides The Railway Children =/
Oh wait, The Avengers!
And An America Werewolf in London!
...
Okay, I know a few more than I thought.
It probably wasn't any of those, was it? =/

Urk. Loud noises and time sensitive quizzing? That sounds terrible.
Did I grumble home and treat yourself to solitude, dream pop, and something sugar-filled?
I hope you did. You'd deserve it after that hellscape nonsense 0_0

Watching my first Christmas movie of the season, it's going to be terrible but I'm very excited about it. Wish me luck!

Ps. Nothing to be done for my janky elbow other than a few basics arm stretches and waiting for it to heal, which could take 6 months plus.
And to add to that! I've got tendonitis in my left wrist now from trying to do yoga while having a broken body.
Why am I such a stupid? :)

Dex said...

You're the only person I tell these insane things to :D

That's more Jenny Agutter films than I know :) I know The Railway Children. And I should have remembered American Werewolf but I didn't. The one at the quiz was an Australian film called Walkabout. I've never seen it but for some reason I knew about it.

Solitude, dream pop and something sugar-filled. Lilliputty, I think you just described my happy place :) I just want that and some films and books and you to talk nonsense with. I didn't get any of that on quiz night but maybe this weekend, especially since my parents are in Sandness.

You're not a stupid. Your body is just super rebellious! What was the Christmas movie you went for?

Louise Boyd said...

Last Christmas.
It's the one with Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding and Emma Thompson.
It was... okay. I'd probably watch it in the background if it happened to be on?
So hard to find decent modern Christmas movies. The last one and first one I'd watched in years was Klaus.
Suuuccccch pretty animation and I bawled like an idiot at the end :)
I don't think anything will ever beat The Muppets, though.
That is Christmas movie perfection.

I hateeeee The Railway Children. They're so annoying >_<
While everyone else I crying at the my daddy! my daddy! scenes, I'm trying my best no to roll my eyes completely to the back of my head 0_0
I'm a monster.

A weekend without parents. What goodies are stocking up on in Tesco for this solitutudinous event?

Dex said...

The closest I usually get to a Christmas movie is Batman Returns :) I could barely name a modern Christmas movie although I agree that Klaus does look very pretty :) Is it a tradition in your family to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol every year?

The Railway Children is not something that has ever appealed to me either. Walkabout looks interesting though. One of those strange, atmospheric Australian films from the 70s.

I went for pepperoni pizza and more strawberry eclairs. Not very original :) Getting dark so early, it feels like the day is almost over but it's only 3.45!

Louise Boyd said...

The only time I see sunlight right now is just before I go to brush my teeth x_x
Actual vampire but with an aversion to blood, that's me.
And don't diss pizza and eclairs; that's the meal of champions.
My dinner of champions? Homemade meatball sub and duck spring rolls. I may have wicked heartburn but damn, it was worth it.
Dessert will be Ferrero Rocher :)
Is it weird I have dessert at like 3am instead of normal human time? =/
I like sweets and reads!

The Muppet Christmas Carol is an unspoken must watch for Sar, Em, and I.
If it's not seen at least once a year, we start to freak out and speak in Beaker tones 0_0
The question of whether Batman Returns was a Christmas or not came up recently. I don't know how anyone could think otherwise; it's SUCH a Christmas movie.

Dex said...

'I like sweets and reads' - I think that sums you up perfectly :) Homemade meatball sub, duck spring rolls and Ferrero Rocher! I think you win, that sounds epic! Also, any time of day is an good time for Ferrero Rocher :)

I mean, the last lines of dialogue are Bruce Wayne and Alfred wishing each other a Merry Christmas, how could it not be :) I watched a Christmas film yesterday without even realising it! I spent yesterday afternoon looking into Australian New Wave cinema (because I'm a loser) and ended up watching something called 'Wake in Fright' about a teacher having a rather nightmarish stopover in an Outback town on his way home for the Christmas holidays :S

I feel like I would be so out of my depth with you and your sisters speaking to each other in cultural references :)

Louise Boyd said...

Nah, you'd be confused for like a week and then our cult-speak would start to osmose in and you'd start talking like us :)

Watched the trailer for Wake in Fright anddddd I have no idea wtf to make of it but that's cool, Australia's a bonkers place and their filmmaking is always off the charts amazing.
Especially for horror.
I don't know what's happening out there but they sure know how to fuck your brain up =/
And gross you out. Ugh, some of the things I've seen 0_0

Dad brought home doughnuts from this place called Tantrum Doughnuts in Glasgow and holy fucksickles, SO GOOD.
Chocolate Millionaire, Milk 'n Cookies, and Pistachio & Hibiscus.
I've only tried the first two (Millionaire - best taste, Cookies - best consistency) but Jesus, that's some fine ass doughnut-making.
If you ever make it that far into the island, I highly recommend picking some up :) They're so choice.
...
I'll be very proud of if you know what quote I'm butchering for my means.

What do you think about Robert Pattinson as the new Batman? And more importantly, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman?
My judgement can't be trusted because of my unhealthy love for the grump that is Pattinson, I need an outside perspective =/

Dex said...

Ferris Bueller?

Those doughnuts look amazing! Why did I click on the link? Why?! Just to torture myself. You know exactly what you're doing :D

Lilliputty, I have no idea who Zoe Kravitz is! I had to look her up right now! Pretty famous parents. I remember Lisa Bonet from Angel Heart. I think you made me watch that. So basically I have no thoughts on her Catwoman casting :) Do you think it's good casting?

Also, I've never seen Robert Pattinson in a film, just know of his Twilight reputation which seems a harsh thing to judge him on so many years down the line. Probably not someone a lot of people would have imagined as Batman but neither was Michael Keaton :) I thought Christian Bale would have been a great Batman/Bruce Wayne and he wasn't, mid 90s Val Kilmer probably looked like good casting and he wasn't (although that would have been a terrible film with anyone in the role), so you never can tell.

Louise Boyd said...

20 points to House Dexterous!
I think I could probably quote Ferris Bueller by heart I've watched it so many times.
I'm not in it for Ferris though, nuh uh, Cameron all the way. I love that freakishly tall sad sack.

Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, honestly, I'm not sure. I haven't seen her in many things but I thought she was really good in the Fantastic Beasts sequel (even if the movie is a dumpster fire and JK Rowling can go fuck herself) but all she really had to do was look kinda elegant and regal.
But... Catwoman's pretty elegant and regal with a healthy dose of crazy thrown in, so... yeah? Could be pretty good?

I'm not even worried about Pattinson. He's going to emo the fuck out Gotham's resident bat and it's going to be glorious 0_0
...
Told you, totally biased because I love him.
And don't judge him on Twilight. So many good actors were wasted in that trash heap (Kristen Stewart, Anna Kendrick, Taylor Lautner's actually a really good comedic actor, Peter Facinelli as well, Michael Sheen, Lee Pace, Rami Malek, etc.) and R-Batz has been truly amazing in some incredible movies.
Plus, he's really not afraid to take the piss out of his time as a sparkly vampire and I dunno, that just appeals to me :)
Sooooo even if the movie sucks (high chance, we haven't had a decent Batman movie since Heath Ledger was The Joker), I still reckon it's gonna be fun.
I'm real excited about Paul Dano as The Riddler. He can be fucking terrifying *-*

Ps. Is Val Kilmer worse than George Clooney?

Dex said...

You know everything, Lilliputty. I just want to listen to you talk about stuff :)

I've only ever seen Paul Dano in Little Miss Sunshine so I'll have to take your word for it :) I wonder if they will go for an ultra serious, hyper realistic tone?

I think in a different kind of Batman film, Val Kilmer could have given a decent performance. George Clooney would still have been George Clooney and would therefore have sucked anyway. Batman Forever hurts more because I remember being super excited as a kid and then the massive let down. Batman & Robin you could see coming a mile away.

Hopefully a couple more boxes will turn up in the next few day. Please don't judge me too harshly when you open your presents. I really did try :)

Louise Boyd said...

George Clooney would still have been George Clooney and would therefore have sucked anyway.

How dare you! :O
He's Doug Ross, you monster. United in Hell and High Water we stand!
I am shocked, Dexterous Epistolean.
SHOCKED.

I think I have three packages so far. It's hard to tellll.
We'll have to pull the same middle name trick for me as I'm doing for you so I can tell what I've bought and what you've sent :D
And as if I'd judge. You know I just love receiving gifts ^-^

Ps. For the new Batman, I want the darkness of Nolan and the comic book quality of Burton, and I think we might get it!

Louise Boyd said...

I stand corrected!
I address my packages with my middle name and you don't.
SO all this time, THIS idiot has been confused for NO fucking reason >_<
What makes this even stupider is that Em's the one who pointed it out to me -_-
My brain is just wet cake, I swear to all that's sugary.

Dex said...

Of course, I knew the system all along... :D

I'm sure he was much better in ER :)

Is your family all set for Christmas? We haven't even got any decorations up yet :S What kinds of things to you get to eat on Christmas Day? Is it very traditional?

This is my last week of work for this year. I've got next week off and then our department closes until 5 Jan. I'm a bit stressed about my mum going to Aberdeen at the weekend though :S She's going to renew her Philippine passport. The embassy is in London but they are doing some kind of outreach thing in Aberdeen. I'm just worried that she's going to get stuck there, either due to covid or weather. At least she'll get to see Freya :)

Louise Boyd said...

Ugh, that sucks.
I'll keep my fingers crossed (one set, two's unlucky - don't know why) she'll make it back okay. I'm sure she will, though, because i'm guessing she's not an idiot like the rest of the UK who still refuse to wear their masks.
And the chances of a lockdown with Boris in charge is unlikely, and if it happens, he'll announce it on the 23rd or something stupid like that *insert eye-roll emoji*
And weather-wise? I'm 98% sure Freya could control the weather, being a little fairy queen and all, so I don't reckon she'd screw your mum over like that :)
If she has a special Christmas outfit, you gotta tell me. Especially if there are antlers involved >_<

The decorations are up. The tree has been dressed. The big Christmas dinner shop is yet to be done but that'll be in the next week or so.
We're having a more low-key dinner this year because it's just us and my gran. My mum's mum is going down to Derby to have Christmas with my uncle, and staying about a month? I think? People tell me things and I forgot them instantly 0_0
It'll be weird but nice for her since she kinda struggled last year, Christmas was only a few months after my grandpa died and everyone was out of sorts but especially her and mum. She could do with something a little more peaceful.
I'll miss her and I'm worried about her getting stuck like you are but it does mean I get to hoard more of the stuffing and roast potatoes for myself...
Always thinking with my stomach ^-^
Christmas dinner is super traditional: Turkey, roasties, pigs in blankets (bacon, not dough - I want dough but it never happens >_<), roast veg (two types, root veg and the kind I don't like), bread sauce (blech, evil, evil substance), gravy, red cabbage (mum makes it for me and I still haven't told her I don't really like it =/), brussel sprouts (mum's the only one who eats AND enjoys them. Weirdo), two types of stuffing (sausage and bread), anddddd I think that's it?
Y'know what, I say we're gonna tone it down this year but I know my mum when it comes to cooking and it's still gonna be mayhem 0_0
Please tell me your family is way less nuts than this and can I hide in your room for the festive season? I'll be not trouble. I'll bring my books!

Okay, mister, do I have to list Clooney's filmic repertoire because it's damn fine!:

Out of Sight
O' Brother, Where Art Thou?
The Descendants
One Fine Day
Up in the Air
Ocean's Eleven
From Dusk Till Dawn
The Ides of March

Those are great movies!
Wait a minute, though, have you not seen any ER?
How... how did you manage that? You're a child of the 90s =/

Ps. SO many packages! What did you DO?!

Pps. Don't worry too much about your mum, I'm sure she'll be fine :)

Dex said...

I don't know why Amazon insists on sending everything separately. It's all really small things too!

Good news, Lilliputty! That passport thing in Aberdeen has been cancelled so my mum's not going anywhere. My cousin was supposed to be getting her passport renewed as well so she phoned last night to let us know, literally a couple of hours after I'd messaged you. Did you do something like cast a spell? Because if you did, thank you - I feel like I can breathe again :)

I really hope your gran has a really nice time away and that you don't miss her too much. I used to like going away to relatives on Christmas, when I used to still like going places :) Is your mum are feeling a bit better about Christmas this year?

I feel so hungry reading your message. I love Christmas dinner, everything about it. All those things you mentioned, including evil bread sauce and brussels sprouts and red cabbage (how come she thinks you like it - is it a childhood thing?), I would happily eat without a second thought. I don't think I would want your mum to tone it down on Christmas dinner :) I've never had the dough version of pigs in blankets. You and I would definitely have them at our Christmas dinner. Also, you could stay in the bedroom with your books and just come out for food and presents :)

My mum just announced that we wouldn't have any decorations this year which pretty much illustrates how enthusiastic we are about Christmas :)

Clearly I need to take back what I've said about Dr Doug Ross. Sorry :) I've never seen ER, not properly. I've probably seen clips here and there but have never come close to watching a full episode :S

Louise Boyd said...

I guess I do have magical powers *-*
I always wanted to be a witch.

Guess who got stabbed with antivirus today?!
This idiot, and her arm hurts like a motherfucker.
I swear this is worse than the second jab 0_0
Took an accidental two hour nap after dinner, as well =/

...you could stay in the bedroom with your books and just come out for food and presents :)

That's my perfect Christmas >_<
Throw in the required Christmas movies, pyjamas 'til the end of time, and it'd be perfect.
And twinkly lights.
Which whenever I say I get this song from Bob's Burgers in my head:

https://youtu.be/4c5q20Vg1-U

That show has the best songs ^-^

Dex said...

You like the best things :)

I'm sorry, Lilliputty. A lot of people I know (okay, I know about 3 people) felt terrible after their booster, much worse than either of the first 2 jabs. I'm still glad you got it though :)

Did I tell you I'm now officially off work until 5 January? Okay, I'll probably go in this weekend to finish up some stuff but at least I don't have to get up early :)

Something came in the post today :D

Louise Boyd said...

I do like the best things ^-^
Which is why I reminded everybody that it was the second season drop of The Witcher today!
I'm doing an episode a day to make it last. Like a crazy person :)

I can now lift my arm above my head without making a pitiful ouch noise but it still feels like there's a giant bruise just below my shoulder.
I don't remember vaccinations hurting like this when we had them in school =/
Although, I do remember crying when I got my BCG and then going home sick because all vaccinations gave me a slight fever when I was a kid.
My family christened me Spewy Louis :) I was a projectile vomit baby. The full Linda Blair.
My poor parents =/

What you gonna do with your time off? Go bear hunting? Track down a baby Sasquatch? See if it's possibly to eat a full tin of quality street without vomiting?

There should be two boxes for you?
Maybe three?
Y'know what Amazon's like >_<

Louise Boyd said...

I forgot to tell you!
I'm young again!
When the women logging Em and I into the system at the vaccination centre asked me for my age, she thought I was 17 ^-^
My ego is through the fucking roof!

Dex said...

Maybe you are a vampire! You should go out more, just to show off your lovely face :D

I've just eaten a whole packet of Lotus Biscoff biscuits. Some manager brought them in the other week and told us to help ourselves. But they hadn't been opened and I thought 'fuck this, I've come into work over the weekend, I fucking deserve these' :)

Remember the days when you had to wait a whole week to watch the next episode of something? :)

I think maybe the Amazon parcel I got the other day had multiple things - it felt like it did. I think all the things they sent to you were split individually which was why there were so many... sorry!

Spewy Louis :D I used to get stabbed a lot for travelling abroad. They would even stab me in the butt on occasion! But I don't ever remember feeling ill afterwards, just a sore arm (or butt). Another reason to just stay home and never go anywhere :)

Louise Boyd said...

The joys of friendship, you learn the weirdest shit about each other :D

I was never good at waiting weekly for episodes.
When Buffy started showing, I would basically vibrate for a week until the next episode aired and I'm pretty sure I drove everybody crazy =/
I want the things when I want them, no waiting.
Basically I'm a hungry brat :)
I do morally object to weekly drops on streaming services, though. You're paying for that service, you shouldn't have to watch it like terrestrial tv! Unjust and illogical!
Which is why when they do force me to endure weeklies, I just wait 'til they're fully loaded and gorge on the whole lot then ^-^

Wait, do you mean like a ruler's length packet of Biscoff biscuits?
In ONE day?!
...
I don't know whether to be impressed or concerned 0_0

Dex said...

Some not so great news - there was a typhoon in the Philippines and basically a lot of the family farm has been destroyed. I saw a photo of the house and it has been decimated. Parents are pretty distraught so Christmas should be fun :S

I should eat another ruler length packet of Biscoff biscuits!

Louise Boyd said...

You should definitely eat another ruler length packet of Biscoff biscuits.
Maybe even two. Maybe three!
I'm real sorry, Dexterous; can it be rebuilt or is there just nothing left?
I think you showed me a picture once, it looked lovely :(
If you need an idiot to distract you from general mayhem over Christmas, you know this idiot is always available for you.
Just call me your Christmas Clown; I'll regale you with tales of how Charlie continues to get stuck behind the Christmas tree and squawks miserably like a sad turkey until he's rescued.

Dex said...

Thanks Lilliputty. You're the best. And I'm always happy to hear Charlie stories :)

When Freya saw the photos, she said at least the walls are still standing :D

I'll be fine though. The benefits of being an emotionally distant weirdo is that I never care too much for too long :) Don't know what I'll do today since I'm off work. Think I'll listen to some music and make a plan of action for the next 16 days at home! I really should watch some stuff...

Do you guys do presents under the tree? Do you usually open them after lunch?

I fully believe Freya will grow up to deliver the most cutting verbal beatdowns. All with that adorable little pixie face.
She's going to make people cry and it's going to be epic 0_0

I'll be fine though. The benefits of being an emotionally distant weirdo is that I never care too much for too long :)

Holy shit, I thought I was a weirdo for reacting exactly like this to major events =/
Of course you'd be as emotionally stunted as me :)
Sociopath high five?

The Christmas Day routine is I get up house before everybody else because of the absurdly long time it takes me to look/feel vaguely human, we eat some form of breakfast, open presents from each other around 11ish in the living room - the tree's in the room, we open near it, fetch the grandparents and exchange gifts with them, cooking and beverage drinking ensues, eat around 4pm, tidy up, fall into a food coma while staring glassy-eyed at the tv *-*
All very boring and conventional but I don't think we'd have the energy to do anything more exciting =/
Are you giving presents this year or was the decree of no decorations the start of a seasonal embargo?

PS. YOU SHOULD WATCH WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, ARCANE: LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, AND THE WITCHER.
I've decided :)

Dex said...

I'm sure we both care about some things :)

That sounds nice. I think there's something to be said for a boring and conventional Christmas :) We've always been a presents after dinner kind of family. We'll probably end up giving each other something as a token gesture. Maybe some socks :) I'm not even sure if we're having turkey this year :S

Do you know what desserts you be having?

I wish you were here to make me watch things :D And 'What We Do In The Shadows' does look like my cup of tea :)

Ps. Another box turned up yesterday :)

Louise Boyd said...

Currently I care about the Reeses Pieces Kisses my sister bought me and how many I can eat before feeling sick.
Top priority thought.

I don't think I could wait until after dinner for gifts. Even though that's what we do on birthdays =/
My brain's stupid but Christmas morning = presents and a coffee with gingerbread syrup because I AM DYINGGGGG.
Christmas should start in the afternoon in my opinion. I've stated my case to the rentals but they are yet to pass judgement to my liking <_<
Will you at least have stuffing? Roast potatoes? CRANBERRY SAUCE?!

We are having two desserts. Christmas pudding (blech) and the meringue dessert thing that tasted like Viennetta that Em and Sarah made for my birthday year before last.
It's gonna be epic 0_0
You?

All the boxes have arrived! You're all presented up! I checked. Thank fuck for Amazon 0_0
Did you get anything for Freya in the end?

Dex said...

I can't judge after the Biscoff biscuits incident :)

They have! Three parcels now! :D Freya only wants books so my mum has just bought her a bunch from all of us. I wonder if you have some kind of mysterious influence over her :) They also bought her Swan Lake and The Nutcracker as she loves ballet. She's already a more cultured human being than me!

Well, if you have to get up, coffee with gingerbread syrup must make it seem almost worthwhile :)

To be honest, I'm not sure what we'll be having. We are even more unprepared than usual! No presents, no decorations, no food... we'll probably regret it on the day :) Was the Viennetta dessert already 2 birthdays ago?! It seems like only yesterday I was seething with jealousy :)

Is New Year's a big thing in your house?

Louise Boyd said...

Freya only wants books so my mum has just bought her a bunch from all of us.

It's final. She's the perfect creature. A little goddess taking a vacation on earth.
We are all not fucking worthy 0_0

I reckon, even if you're Christmas isn't all that Christmassy, you can still enjoy it by hibernating in your room and watching seasonally appropriate movies.
Like Die Hard and Batman Returns :)
Oh, and eating way too much. It's not Christmas unless you're swollen with sugar and carbs.

New Year's is SO not a big thing. We sit around, watch movies, have a glass of something fizzy when the clock chimes (hot chocolate's my drink of choice) and then bugger off to bed.
I kinda hate New Year's Eve tbh =/
Very anticlimactic.
I just wanna sleep *-*
Do you celebrate? I'm thinking, no?
What doooo you celebrate in the Eva household, Dexterous?

Dex said...

I only celebrate when I have the house to myself :) I may even go to work between Christmas and New Year just to escape. I do that at the weekend sometimes. A quiet office, some music and some sweets... yes, I realise there may be something wrong with me :) I do wonder what would have happened this Christmas if Freya had been here. We probably would have gone all out and it would have been totally worth it :)

Hibernating, movies and eating that secret stash of Ferrero Rocher I bought the other day and haven't told anyone about! I did buy them some other chocolates so I didn't have to feel too guilty :) Also bought a Viennetta. Just because :)

We may be having turkey now so it won't be a completely non-Christmas Christmas :)

Louise Boyd said...

Nah, I totally get the need to escape, no matter where it is.
Tell me you're not doing actual work when you're there, though?
You're watching things on YouTube and planning what deadly comestible you're gonna pick up from Tesco on the way home, right?

I bet a Freya Christmas would be a thing of sparkly beauty.
Unicorns and tutus and dinosaurs everywhere.
And forts constructed all over the house for certain acts.
A snack fort. A reading fort. A watching tv with uncle Dex fort. A nap fort.
Fuck, that sounds really nice *-*

Ferrero Rocher and Viennetta. If I wasn't getting dessert in a day and a bit, I'd be jealous.
Did you get the big box? Tell me you got the big box?
I'm kinda addicted to Raffaello =/
I know you're not that into coconut but they're really, really good.

Dex said...

That does sound nice :D We should also have tunnels connects the forts so we never have to venture into the outside world!

I would probably do some work :S When I go in at weekends, I usually have something to do. Admittedly these things can probably wait until Monday but it's typically more project type work that I struggle to focus on during the week. Or to read policies so that I can actually understand my job rather than pretending to understand it. Or to clear up my mistakes :)

Anyway, my sibling has to work on actual Christmas day. And Boxing day. I think I've told you he works in the hospital kitchen. Personally, I wouldn't mind that, keeping out of the way while everyone does the preparation and arriving home just in time to eat all the food :) Is your family all off work during the Christmas holidays?

You'll be so disappointed in me. I only bought the Ferrero Rocher box of 16. And I'm down to 5! Probably 4 in the next few minutes :) Still have the Viennetta though. I'll definitely keep a look out for Raffaello! And coconut is fine - I'm very open minded when it comes to sweets and chocolate :)

Comestibles - I'm so dumb always having to look up words! :)

Louise Boyd said...

I did that thing where I deleted my entire message before posting it -_-
Fucckkkk.
I'm taking it as a sign that it wasn't good enough and trying again!

Your job is like that episode of Friends where no one knows what Chandler does:

https://youtu.be/uYM1uQ7QrTc?t=93

We've known each for years and I still have no idea 0_0

Is your brother a cook?
It would really suck to cook for other people and then your family on Christmas Day.
Just watching my mum and Em gives me anxiety 0_0
I just clean up around them and fetch things when needed.
Gofer Girl, that's me.
I'd take it over cooking any day, though =/

The parentals are not working, they're actually just about retired. Very weird and very stressful, and they're running around like headless idiots, which is stressing me, Em and Sar out but we're kinda just letting them spin around and hoping they'll calm down at some point.
If not, I'm gonna dose with them with some booze and force them to snooze through Christmas so we can get some peace ^-^

Merry Christmas for tomorrow, Dexterous :)
Wish me luck, so I can get a few hours sleep.
*probably isn't going to get any sleep*
=/

Dex said...

I've had that same thought about my job for ages :)

Merry Christmas, Lilliputty! Thank you so much for the presents. I honestly let out a Brain from Pinky & The Brain like 'YES' when I saw the rainbow belts :D

And I'm so happy that you still have enough faith in me to send through things to read and watch that you think I'll like :) The fact that I laughed out loud 2 seconds after flipping through Giant Days is a good sign :)

I'm not entirely sure what my sibling does in the hospital kitchen but I think it's more prep type stuff and salads, sandwiches, stuff like that. He's been there forever, probably since I was in high school. As you can tell, neither of us is very ambitious :) And he never cooks for us so don't feel sorry for him :)

I hope you did get a good sleep and today isn't too stressful. Enjoy your gingerbread coffee and I'll be very jealous of all the food you'll have :)

Louise Boyd said...

You bought me Tim Tams and booooooooks.
*sobs eternally*
You know me so well >_<
And such good choices for books! How did you do this?! I'm suspicious...

Giant Days is so fucking relatable and funny, I love it. I've gotta read more, though. So bad at keeping up with the picture stories.
Rat Queens is magnificent as well. Full of violent ladies :)
And you did say to buy you sugar and force things I like on you. I was just following orders ^-^

Ugh. Not gonna lie, today was... not great.
My gran made it her mission to find the one thing you don't want to talk about and asked endless questions about it. Did it to each and every one of us and I just... why are old people so fucking weird? 0_0
And why do they ask questions and then stop listening immediately as your confidence slowly dwindles into a pile of anxiety-ridden ash x_x
Why can't they just be normal?!
...
She's coming round tomorrow. At 12.
Send help?

Did you have an okay Christmas? Lowkey and spent mostly eating Viennetta in your room? *isn't jealous at all*

Dex said...

I'm sorry, Lilliputty. If I could have, I would have kidnapped you and taken you to Sandness to hide until all this madness was over. Just realised I'm starting to right this message after 12 - I hope everything is going okay! I used to hate seeing relatives for that very reason.

Yeah, our Christmas was pretty low key - basically dinner and a couple of presents. And even that seemed too much to me :) But it did snow a bit the night before so everything had a slight frosting which was nice :)

Also, I haven't eaten the Viennetta yet! We had some salted caramel profiteroles yesterday so thought I would save the ice cream for boxing day. Not even sure if I'll offer to share it with everyone else :)

You should always keep forcing the things you like one me :D Also, I had no idea what I was doing when I was book buying! I just kept putting words in my google search and looking at what came up. I thought if I bought a few, maybe at least one would turn out to be okay :)

Louise Boyd said...

Eep, now I feel guilt for talking shit 'cause she ended up not coming today, she wasn't feeling too good. Freely admits she probably drank too much booze and overate (dad and my dodgy stomachs come from her side of the family) and she's feeling better now but ack!
Worst grandchild, sitting right here ^-^
I think I did my penance, though. I, too, overate like an idiot today and unfortunately so its return -_-
It's not Christmas if someone doesn't throw up :)

I totally forgot about Evangelion! One of those animes I've been meaning to watch for my entire adult life and utterly failed to do so.
Thank you, Dexterous ^-^
Which reminds me, I know you weren't going to but do not, I repeat, DO NOT watch the Cowboy Bebop live action. It's so fucking boring and stupid, it's bumming me the fuck out 0_0
John Cho deserves so much better. As does Spike Spiegel.
For shame on the people who decided to do this. For shammmmmeeeee.

Has the Viennetta been broken into? What flavour, by the way? I'm guessing classic? - it's the best one, anyway.

Ps. You bastard, getting snow! Send some this way. I need frosting!

Dex said...

Don't feel too bad, Lilliputty. At least it sounds like she enjoyed her Christmas food/drink :) Is there still a ton of food leftover?

For some reason, I thought you maybe used to have Evangelion on dvd but lent it to someone who never gave it back. Probably another one of those things I've made up in my head :) I've never seen it either so bought myself a copy too :D Ugh, yes, I'd read some pretty disappointing reviews of the new Cowboy Bebop. I wonder what went wrong?!

Yes, the Viennetta has been partially consumed and yes, classic all the way!
I don't know why I do this to myself but how was the magical Viennetta-like dessert that your sisters made? :)

Louise Boyd said...

We have so much stuffing, it's ridiculous.
My mum and Em do ours outside the turkey, so we end up with basically two big meatloaves each year.
Bread and sausage stuffing.
But this year, when she asked Em to get all the sausage meat from the freezer, she forgot how much she bought, so... this year we have three giant stuffing loaves and to be frank, I'm over the moon about it.
I've had stuffing for the past three days and I'm not stopping until I'm told it's a health hazard :)
Oh, and the Magic Viennetta Imposter was fine. as. fuck.
Sarah nailed the meringues. Crunchy but chewy and slightly caramelised in the middle. Perfect.
I'm so lucky to have sisters who bake *-*

For some reason, I thought you maybe used to have Evangelion on dvd but lent it to someone who never gave it back. Probably another one of those things I've made up in my head :)

Nope! Just a little twisted around.
I have a copy of the first movie somewhere in my room which I've never watched. I accidentally stole it from a guy I was friends with in high school =/
Never lend me things.

Sarah showed me a picture of a Yule Log Viennetta today:

https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/310098029

WANT.
But I still want Classic more :)
Did you share with the family?
No judgement, I'm still pondering whether I'm going to share my Tim Tams :)
...
Maybe one packet...

Dex said...

You know the solution. Buy both kinds of Viennettas! :D I haven't quite got around to sharing mine... I mean, I bought them cake so I'm not a completely terrible human being :)

Just out of interest, how many Tim Tams did you get? It was really unclear when I was ordering - I was worried you might end up with only 2 individual ones :)

Oh, I really did get that mixed up in my head, you thief :) But I can't judge. On my dad's birthday this year, as a present I gave him a tv series he wanted to watch... he had bought the dvd years before and forgot it was stored in my bedroom :S

What does a stuffing loaf look like?! Is that another dumb question? In my head it's a bread loaf but made of stuffing. However, that sounds too good to be true! Fuck, my belly actually just growled while typing this!

'I'm so lucky to have sisters who bake *-*' Understatement of the year :D

Louise Boyd said...

I got two packets of Tim Tams! I ate one last night and, Dexterous, I gotta tell you, these little chocolate fuckers are a game-changer 0_0
They're Penguins... but they're not... but they are... but they're absolutely not >_<
I can't explain it!
I wouldn't overthrow a Penguin for a Tim Tam but I also wouldn't overthrow a Tim Tam for a Penguin.
I feel a very complicated biscuit relationship coming on.

Okay, but did he realise you'd secreted the dvd in your room accidentally? Or did you get away with it?
And what show?
And I win, my dad's the king of asking for art books and then realising he has them.
I swear, Amazon must have a betting system on our family to see how many things get sent back in December =/

A stuffing loaf looks like this:

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/sausage-bramley-stuffing

And it's fucking delicious! I wait an entire year for that sucker and it's worth it every time.
I forgot to eat any today though. Such a fool! And I wasted stomach space on a crumpet that tasted kinda weird x_x
It should be illegal for any crumpet to taste kinda weird.

Have you watched anything I've told you to yet?
You know there will be consequences if you haven't at the very least watched part of one of them <_<
And how many rainbow belts have been consumed? Don't lie. I'll know 0_0

Dex said...

What We Do In The Shadows. It's hilarious! Thank you for making me watch it :D

You had three giant loaves of that! You should have seen our pathetic little stuffing balls :S A curse on your crumpets, Lilliputty. Sorry, that's too far. You deserve tasty crumpets. But still, fucking hell, those sound amazing! :)

I could never wish anything bad on you. Not while I still have some rainbow belts :) I keep rewarding myself with them. Vacuum the house, rainbow belts. Do my exercises, rainbow belts. Run an errand, rainbow belts. Fold a sweater, rainbow belts :) I promise I do have some left!

Oh, it was just one of Michael Palin's travel series - we're so cool in this house :) Thankfully, expectations in this house are super low when it comes to birthday presents so they didn't mind at all when I said I just found it- I think they were surprised I even went to that much effort :)

I hope you're managing to find some moments to yourself and that there's a lull in activity in your house between Christmas and New Year. I think you deserve some quiet time :)

Louise Boyd said...

Yay! I'm so glad!
Have you watched it all or just some?
Favourite character?
I think I have one and then I think about the others and my whole brain collapses 0_0
They're so fucking stupid and adorable.

I keep rewarding myself with them. Vacuum the house, rainbow belts. Do my exercises, rainbow belts. Run an errand, rainbow belts. Fold a sweater, rainbow belts :) I promise I do have some left!

This... is an excellent system but I only sent you 1kg, Dexterous! They'll be gone too soon! >_<
Also, very interested in these exercises. I also do exercises. For the endorphins and the body movement goodness. At 3am, like a weirdo :)

I think someone did curse my crumpets =/
Was it you? Did you make them taste of weird because I had giant stuffing loaves and you didn't?
You did, didn't you.
At Christmastime and everything. For shame!
Also, stuffing balls sounds really good.

Dex said...

Just season 1 so far. I think a favourite character is too difficult to choose! I do love the relationship between Nandor and Guillermo though :)

Only 1kg - it's a huge box! :D I'll maybe need to buy some different sweets so I have alternatives and can make the rainbow belts last longer. I haven't been to the shops since 23 December so I'm running low on other sugar :S I mean, I did end up eating that whole Viennetta myself but ice cream doesn't really count, does it?

I like stuffing in all forms but those giant loaves are something else :) Jealousy did make me curse your crumpets but I felt bad and took it right back!

My exercises aren't very interesting. I found these 2 x 10 minute videos on youtube that didn't seem to strenuous and put them both together, and that has been my routine for about the last 2 years. I only do them so my body doesn't completely give up on me :) I'm not very consistent with my times though although I don't think I've done them at 3am :) Is it yoga-type exercises you do? Sorry, I'm sure you told me this before.

Ps. Really glad Emily has started her 12 days of Christmas :)

Louise Boyd said...

Me too, she gets real stressy over it every year. Worries she won't have time or any ideas. She always does, though. Clever little bastard <_<

Guillermo and Nandor are in love, Nandor just hasn't realised it yet.
It's factual and I won't hear otherwise.
Oh wow, you've got so many things to come. Things get kinda wild for Guillermo :)
I love that soft little man.
But I think... ack! If I had to choose, I'd choose Nadja. I just have a thing for feral ladies *shrug*

I also do 10 minute YouTube videos!
Some strenuous, some fucking insane and I curse the day exercise was born.
Some yoga, some HIIT, some pilates, some strength training.
Basically whatever I feel like and I won't hate every second of. I'm a big fan of the ones you do lying down 0_0
All exercise should be done horizontally.
And a reward of something good tasting afterwards.
Yes, I have dessert after exercising. At 3am.
...
This is why I'll never have abs but my tastebuds will be delighted.

You ate the whole Viennetta? Solo?
*slow clap*
You, my friend, are a fucking legend among humans.
Will, perchance, another Viennetta be bought when one ventures down to Tesco for sugar replenishment?
Y'know, for New Year. Other people get alcohol, we get dessert :)

Dex said...

Tell Emily it's always worth it :)

I love Nadja too :) I ended up watching some of season 2 last night and I don't think I've genuinely laughed so much in the last year as I did at Nandor ordering his laptop to arise - 'what is arise again, ctrl-alt-7?' :D

I like that you do the exercises you feel like doing rather than some set routine. I wish I was a bit more adventurous! But basically, I hate following along with videos (really don't like being told what to do!) so I need to memorise the exercises so I can do them on my own or while watching something more entertaining :)

HIIT - high intensity interval training. I had never heard of that. Sounds scary :)

Do you know what dessert(s) you are getting for New Year? Talking of desserts, have you ever heard of mochi ice cream? Basically ice cream wrapped in rice dough. I saw it on a video the other day and I have barely been able to think of anything else since!

Louise Boyd said...

I have heard of ice cream Mochi.
This YouTube chef Em and I like, Joshua Weissman made some:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmwGaqjMJkM

Gotta say, it doesn't really appeal because I've eaten Mochi and it was like trying to chew a colourful ghost =/
Not a fun experience.
But I did get it at Yo! Sushi and it's basically Britishised Asian food, so... probably not the best example of it?
I'd try again, though. Mostly because it's so damn pretty.

This New Year's, Sarah's making this Chocolate and Hazelnut Mousseline Paris-Brest:

https://www.olivemagazine.com/recipes/family/chocolate-and-hazelnut-paris-brest/

If it tastes as good as it looks, my head might just explode.

You gotta wonder, why ctrl-alt-7? Why 7?
I always wonder about the process in the writing room when stuff like this comes up. Like... how many combinations did they go through to get to that combination of keys? Or was it something Kayvan Novak came up with on the spot?
I'm so glad you like it. Em's watching it at about the same speed as you and I'm getting random gifs from the show hurled at me through the night :)
Also, she's in love with Doll Nadja, as she should be.

HIIT is fucking awful, genuinely hurts like a motherfucker most of the time but... I kinda like it.
I think I've turned into one of those horrible people that exercises for pleasure =/
Just, do me a favour, if I ever start sacrificing biscuits for avocado toast, please come to Scotland and slap some sense into me *-*

I hate following along with videos (really don't like being told what to do!) so I need to memorise the exercises so I can do them on my own or while watching something more entertaining :)

You're a little psychopath sometimes, y'know :)
I do actually understand your need for greater entertainment than the overly chipper fitness people bouncing around and NOT SWEATING AT ALL. They're not human and I'd rather have the WWDitS team doing increasingly stupid shit as my motivation instead but alas, I'm not disciplined enough to exercise without instruction.
I'd probably end up on the floor doing endless Dead Bugs instead :)

Happy almost New Year, Dexterous. What a fucker of a year. Thanks for keeping me sane and entertained :)

Dex said...

Happy New Year, Lilliputty! Not quite sure what I would do without you. Miss out on tv shows probably. Eat less sugar. Probably explode due to not having someone around to listen to my nonsense :)

To be honest, my new found interest in Mochi is based almost entirely on its prettiness :) But that Chocolate and Hazelnut Mousseline Paris-Brest... no words.

I do love the way he pronounces 7 :) What also really got me was the Bela Lugosi hand gestures while commanding the laptop to arise :D I think this is the 2nd time Emily and myself have ended up watching a series simultaneously. The first time was when we both got into The Office :)

I am a little psychopath :) Also, I'm very jealous that you enjoy exercising! And it sounds like you do way more strenuous ones! Do you listen to music while exercising? I'm guessing you can still do that while following the videos?

I do like the look of the Dead Bugs :)

Louise Boyd said...

The Paris-Brest was a success!
Not soggy, very yummy, and it didn't fall to pieces.
A New Year wonder!
I do think we need to simplify our desserts for Christmas and New Year, though.
So stressful 0_0
We should totally just buy a Viennetta and be lazy-genius like you :)

I don't think there's anything I dislike about Nandor. Every time he has an existential sad boy moment, I love him even more.
He has a massive freak out in the third season and it's just fucking adorable *-*
See, this is the problem. I think Nadja's my favourite and then one of the others exists and I'm proven wrong >_<

I am... so fucking tired today. I think this is the most tired I've been since Christmas kicked off.
No Dead Bugs for me tonight. Too fucking knackered.
Can the festive season just kindly fuck off now and let me watch some tv in peace? 0_0
Is all I wanna do. I've waited a week to watch the last two episodes of The Witcher and I want some quiet to find out what happens >_<

Dex said...

Lazy-genius? Well, you're half right :) I somehow doubt that anything made by Sarah or Emily could be deemed a failure! And I'm quite certain that a Viennetta would not be an acceptable substitute for your sisters' desserts :)

They are all my favourites :) But I would be happy with an hour of Nandor and Guillermo going shopping - creepy paper, creepy paper, multi-pack :) Do things tend to calm down around the house now that it is January 2nd? I hope you do find some quiet time to watch The Witcher (sorry, that was one of the shows you ordered me to watch and I haven't started yet). Also, is there still lots of leftover food to get through?

You got a galaxy projector! That's so cool!

Louise Boyd said...

The Witcher has been completed!
Most excellent but now I'm stuck waiting another year for the next season =/
I'll never learn to wait a little while before devouring a new season.
Such a stupid -_-
Wheel of Time's next up on the agenda but I just know it isn't going to be as good.
Hrumph.
The rentals did resubscribe to Disney+, though, so now I can finish all of Legion!
I hope you like it, too. It's pretty fucking bonkers but in a really excellent way :)

I'm quite certain that a Viennetta would not be an acceptable substitute for your sisters' desserts :)

You could not be more wrong, my friend. We, as a family, never say no the Viennetta and hold it in the highest esteem.
It's the perfect dessert and I'm going to have to convince my mum to buy one the next time she's in Tesco because we've talked about it so much, and I... I need one 0_0
I might even scoop it out the bowl with a Tim Tam if I'm in the mood!

Have you got Doll Nadja yet?
And has Haley Joel Osment showed up yet?
Both excellent things in the show.
I'm on the last episode again. I watch this show way too bloody fast!

Ps. The leftovers are gone. I didn't defeat the stuffing but Em's gonna freeze one of the loaves :D
Mid-year stuffing, fuck yeah!

Dex said...

Yes, I've finished season 2 :) I would never have recognised Haley Joel Osment! I'm sure I'll love Legion too! I mean, it has Aubrey Plaza so that's already in its favour :)

I'm glad you've found time to watch your shows :) I kept seeing adverts for Wheel of Time when it came out and I did wonder if that is something you would watch. Hopefully it exceeds your expectations...

Tim Tams and Viennetta - it's a combination that could take some beating! I keep meaning to go to the supermarket one of these nights (I never go in the daytime at the moment) to see if they have any interesting desserts in stock but a combination of fear and laziness keeps me at home :) The problem is that Tesco is so much better for desserts than Co-op, but I feel much more comfortable shopping in Co-op :S

Stuffing should definitely be a year round thing :)

Did you have to split your December monthly because of all the fan art? :D

Louise Boyd said...

Wheel of Time is delightful rubbish. Just what my brain needed after the festive season.
It's only eight episodes, though.
Too short!
I either read things way too fast or they aren't making shows long enough these days =/

I love your lazy dessert-related problems.
Mostly because they'd be mine if I went to the shops =/
I hate going. For many reasons. Right now? Covid. All-time? Fear of seeing people I used to know and either being forced into conversation or being completely ignored 0_0
Both SO traumatising.
Oh, and outside anxiety. That's a biggie.
Why are you afraid of the supermarket?

I did have to split my Monthlies due to excessive fan art =/
I posted it in a oner and it crashed both Sarah and my mum's browsers 0_0
I couldn't even get the post to reopen on blogger until I restarted my whole laptop TWO times.
I broke blogger >_<
I fully blame tv for this. Why's it gotta be so awesome a force artists to make pretty pictures?

You'll hate me but Sarah made cookies today *-*

Dex said...

What kind of cookies? Before I decide whether or not to hate you :)

I did manage to open the original blog post with no problems. I should email google to tell them to use this as a selling point for their chromebooks - 'look at what they can cope with' :) I was slightly relieved to realise that part ii wasn't new material as the amount of stuff for December was already making me question my life e.g. how can someone find so much to enjoy in a month when I find so little? :)

I think my supermarket fear is based on exactly the same reasons! Also, the worst thing about meeting people there is that you tend to bump into them multiple times in different aisles so you end up doing your shopping based on how best to avoid them :) I went to co-op last night when there was hardly any people and still saw someone I would have had to speak to. But I couldn't face it so I just picked up another Viennetta and got the hell out of there before she saw me. Also some double caramel magnums :) I didn't even go there for desserts but I panicked!

I love how 8 episodes is nothing to you :) Although I do imagine you get through books pretty fast too!

Louise Boyd said...

Coconut Macaroons with rice paper on their butts!
So, to be fair, you probably wouldn't be overly fussed but they're my nostalgic all-time favourite.
My maternal grandparents always had them when we went to visit in Glasgow, and I used to full on devour them like a little savage.

https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/286500262

I still do that but it's less cute now =/

Dexterous social panic = MORE ICE CREAM!
Perfectly reasonable in my opinion.
I would've grabbed Cornettos, though.
Or those tiny Häagen-Dazs pots.
Or anything mint based!
Why is mint ice cream the best?

Dex said...

If one of your sisters baked them, yes, I would be fussed. Very fussed indeed! And I still think it would be entertaining to watch you devour them :)

I think we are both agreed that Mint Cornettos are the best :) Also, I would totally recommend the double caramel Magnums. I'm not the biggest fan of Magnums - too self important for something which is pretty much vanilla ice cream in a chocolate shell - but this is vanilla ice cream wrapped in caramel and caramac chocolate! I think I'm going to have another one as soon as I've finished typing this :)

We should have an ice cream party this summer :)

Ugh, I have this enormous, hard spot on my face which seems to keep growing. My self esteem has been at rock bottom this last week - so shallow :)

Louise Boyd said...

YES! THIS! EXACTLY THIS!
It's not even that good vanilla ice cream and the chocolate tastes weird!
But... you may have sold me on the caramel Magnums.
I am pathologically in love with Caramac *has three waiting to be eaten in her room* and I do love ice cream, so...
Ice cream party it is!
Can there be Rowntree's Fruit Pastille Lollies as well, though?
And Fabs? I love Fabs 0_0

Ps. Acne woes are not shallow! Spots are the fucking worst, you feel as bad as you want to, Fungus.
Try putting some heat on it. A hot towel to draw the gunk to the top. But don't squeeze it if it's blind, that just leads to pain and bruising. Trust me.
I feel your pain, buddy :(
I'd send you all the cookies if I could!

Dex said...

Mentioning Rowntree's Fruit Pastille Lollies just gave me flashbacks to Eurotrash as the presenter used to do an advert for them in the 90s! I had to google it to make sure I hadn't misremembered as that would be a bit embarrassing :)

I used to love Fabs but it has been so long since I had one that I can barely remember what the 3 different parts were like. What was underneath the chocolate and sprinkles? Also, what was the middle white stuff made of? I seem to remember it was a bit weird. Was there something underneath it as well? I'm not expecting you to answer any of these questions :)

Caramacs are a chocolate bar I would put in the fridge. Because I'm a weirdo :)

Thanks Lilliputty. You're always so helpful when it comes to skincare :) And I know you would send me all the cookies because you're the best :)

Louise Boyd said...

Oh god, my YouTube feed is going to show me videos with Antoine de Caunes for daysssss now >_<
I had to look, though, because I totally don't remember the adverts.
But.. I guess... something purple-headed and phallic was kind of his wheelhouse? *-*

I gotta tell you what Fabs consist of. I gotta!
They are strawberry and vanilla ice with a chocolate layer and sprinkles!
But don't ask me how they make the vanilla taste like a watered down mini milk and it still be FUCKING DELICIOUS. I have now answer to that sorcery.
I always thought of them as the prettied up version of an ice cream-less Mivvi?
Although, If someone wanted to dip a Mivvi in chocolate and rain some sprinkles on it, I'd endanger my über sensitive teeth and bite that motherfucker down in two mouthfuls 0_0

Caramac... in the fridge... ?
Gotta test it, but if it's bad, there will be vengeance.

Dex said...

I'm very sorry for contaminating your Youtube recommendations :) But I hope you understand that I couldn't remember something like that and not tell you :)

You make Fabs sound amazing! I'm now going have to buy a box of them! I don't know if I've ever had Mivvi :( Is that something that still exists? You know what I haven't experienced in ages? Brain freeze. It's probably because I'm less reckless these days :)

What is your view on Solero? I always want to hear your views on everything :) Did I tell you I found Mochi in Tesco? It was something called Little Moons.

I don't want you to waste one of your Caramacs because of my stupid suggestions! :)

Louise Boyd said...

Oh, I used to love Soleros but at some point I decided I hate mango-flavoured things?
Fresh mango? Gimme.
Mango ice cream? Begone plastic tasting foulness!
It's sad but alas there are plenty of other fruits to keep me satisfied.
I did love Solero Shots, though. So bummed they stopped making them :(
Ohhhh but there is a Red Berry Solero I had no idea existed!
Now, that is a game changer.

Little Moons are so frickin cuteeee. I want a pistachio oneeeee >_<

Ps. Brain Freeze is not something you should be bemoaning the absence of! Weird child. Who made you?

Dex said...

I'm so glad I ask you these things :) I remember Solero shots! I didn't know they stopped making them. That's disappointing. They only had the chocolate Mochi in Tesco when I looked the other day. I might go for a look tonight to see if they have any more flavours in stock.

Fresh mango is one of my favourite things. Mangoes and raspberries are probably the only two fruits that I really love. Have you ever had dragon fruit?

The weather is horrible here today. I've escaped to work again since everyone is so loud at home but have had to phone my mother to pick me up because it's too bad to walk back :S

I am very weird. Fortunately, you're normally the only one who pays enough attention to notice it :)

Louise Boyd said...

I have not tried dragon fruit but it's on my list.
Mostly because it's so pretty.
And I love fruit.
I wish it was better, though. The quality in it is so sporadic, but that's our nation's greediness. I wish we'd just grow seasonally instead of pushing things so people could have a fucking banana out of season =/
Nobody needs a banana that badly.

Did you have snow?
We had a little at about 3am? It was all washed away by the time I got up. So sad :(
I feel like I imagined proper winters.
And proper summers.
Or is that just nostalgia with a glug of global warming? o_O

Do you ever have those days at home where somebody's in a terrible mood (sad, mad, stressed, depressed, et al) and it just spreads and drains the life out of everybody?
That was today.
I fell asleep after dinner just to escape it a little while but it was still there and kinda worse when I woke up =/
I'm hoping tomorrow's gonna suck less but if not, I'm trekking round to my gran's house to watch Netflix and water her plants.
(this probably won't happen because of laziness but the thought's nice)

Dex said...

I don't know who enjoys eating sub-standard fruit :S

No snow. Just very heavy rain :( I wonder if there's somewhere online we can look up the amount of snowfall in Scotland for each year. I love looking at that kind of information. Such a loser :) I almost typed lobster instead of loser :)

In my hazy memory, every Christmas when we were kids was full of snowball fights and building snowmen, while summers were spent almost exclusively outdoors in the warm weather :) Is it too much to hope for a proper summer this year?

That sounds terrible, Lilliputty. I can never relax when someone at home is stressed out, and my family find a lot of things to stress about! Are things any better today? At least you have an escape plan! Is your gran's house pretty close by?

Louise Boyd said...

You can be a lobster if you want to be, Dexterous.
Personally, if I'm going sea creature, I wanna be either a leafy sea dragon, an axolotl salamander, or a sea bunny.
But you can be a nippy monster if you wish! :)

My gran's is a ten minute walk from my house and I did not go!
Things were better today, still a little moody but not the soul-sucker it was yesterday.
Thank fuck!
I did still fall asleep after dinner, though =/
Read a novella before that but still =/ =/ =/ =/

Don't hate me but... Sarah made a cinnamon swirl bundt cake and it's delicious 0_0
She hasn't even iced it yet, I was just eating the cake waste and she had to take the bowl from me *-*
I gotta learn to bake so I can make some of these delicious things!

Dex said...

I could never hate you. I'm very jealous though. I bet the bundt cake looks amazing :) I haven't had a cinnamon swirl in ages. It's very difficult at the moment getting freshly baked goods because you have to go to the supermarkets at the busiest times. Such a difficult life :)

I thought you were making up those sea creatures :) Why have I never heard of these magical things?!

I'm glad things were a little better today. It's so tiring living in that kind of atmosphere. Sleeping is sometimes the best way to get through it :) Sorry, can I ask you a personal question - how many books did you read last year?

Guess what I did last night, 10 years late. Finally watched Scream 4 :)

Louise Boyd said...

Dex, it tastes like a cinnamon roll and Madeira cake had a coconutty baby when no coconut was involved.
It's amazing 0_0

How many books? 290, according to Goodreads.
Whyyyy?

Is Scream 4 the one where they kill Dewey?
Wait, did I imagine that?
Is he still alive?
...
That's how much of an effect that movie had one my brain :)

Dex said...

So what you're saying is that it tastes like the worst thing ever. That's the only way I'll be able to sleep tonight. Maybe I'll dream of being encircled by a giant version of Sarah's bundt cake. Then I could eat my way out :) Or some kind of nightmare where your eyes turn into cinnamon swirls as they try to hypnotise me! Sorry, I think I've gone insane :D

Dewey's still alive. He just got beaten around the head a bit with a bed pan :)

290 books. I'm not even surprised :) I just like to know these things. You do know you're pretty amazing, don't you?

Speaking of amazing things, I bought some Little Moons Mochi ice cream. Chocolate & Almond, and Passion Fruit. I'm going to have one tonight. Maybe two :) I know I've set myself up to be disappointed by getting so excited but I don't have much else in my life :)

Dex said...

I had a couple of the chocolate and almond Mochi last night. I really like them :) Do your sisters ever make ice cream? Sorry if I've asked you that before.

Louise Boyd said...

Is it wrong that a Bundt Cake prison with a lake of frosting in the middle sounds fucking amazing?
Throw in a library and I'll build myself a cabin out of chocolate fingers and never leave! *-*

I may have Bundt Cake but I am still significantly jealous of your Little Moons.
What's the outside like? Is it squishy and taste of nothing but provides a protective layer for the ice cream?
Can you taste the almond?
Fucking love almonds!
I just saved a recipe for an Chocolate Almond Swiss Roll and I can't stop thinking about it 0_0

https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/almond-roll-recipe

Ps. Sarah made the best Biscoff ice cream in the known universe one Christmas. I fought off everyone with my spoon so I could eat it all :)

Dex said...

If you were imprisoned there, I would visit you often :)

Little Moons are a bit weird. They are a lot smaller than I was expecting so they look quite cute :) For the chocolate and almond one, the outside is dusted with cocoa powder so it's not entirely tasteless. And it does have little chopped up almonds inside. The packaging said to wait for 5 minutes after taking out of the freezer before eating but I just ignored that bit :)

I sometimes like to imagine, when life calms down, I will live a quiet life and finally find the time to make things like Chocolate Almond Swiss Rolls :)

Biscoff ice cream sounds amazing! Was the actual ice cream Biscoff flavoured? Or did it have bits of Biscoff running through it? Or both?!

Dex said...

Parents are away and my sibling is working this weekend so I may actually get some peace and quiet :)

I don't think anything has computed less in my head than that sentence.
What. the actual. fuck?!
Are you a monster?!
WHO DOES THIS?!
0_0
...
Ignore me, I'm just jealous because my house is always full and I can't get up before 2pm at the moment =/
Sleep schedule's gone totally to fuck!
I gotta live vicariously through you now. Tell me of the sun. Does she still shine? It's been so long since I've seen her x_x

Have you tried the Passion Fruit Little Moons yet?
I've been fixated on ice cream since you mentioned them 0_0
I'd trade one of my fancy hardbacks for a Mars Bar ice cream bar right now.
...
That's a lie. I could never do that >_<

Ps. You'd have an Oreo cabin right next to me, dummy. You think I'd live in an actual cake and not take you with me? Pfffft. I'm insulted!

Dex said...

The sun has become a myth in Shetland. I'll be so glad when we get through January! I don't think you're missing much by staying in bed until 2pm :)

I wouldn't be jealous. A day on your own goes by so fast it hardly seems worthwhile. 2 weeks would be nice. Or a month. Or a year :)

I did try the Passion Fruit. All six of them :) They were good too. Not worth a fancy hardback but good :) I really like the type of ice cream they use for Little Moons. I saw they also had the Coconut flavour in Tesco now!

I was really hoping you'd take me with you to cake prison but didn't want to presume :)

Louise Boyd said...

I'd bring Em as well. She'd keep us alive =/
She's live in the Cafe Noir cabin.
And I'd trick Charlie into making friends with a group of cats so I could finally have a clowder and he could learn how to be a cat instead of a demon that crept out of the bowels of hell and demanded entrance to our home.
He needs the education, honestly, he's so badly behaved lately *-*

Coconut Moons!
You MUST buy some and report back.
Coconut ice cream's the the bomb 0_0
...
Aged myself about seventy hundred years by saying that, didn't I?

I've been watching these videos on YouTube of a girl who lives rurally and they're so fucking quaint and calming, it's making me want to upsticks and flee to a cabin somewhere.
But I just know I'd get freaked out and hide under the bed from eldritch fairytale creatures all the time =/

https://youtu.be/BYbRGWJ5B-c

Dex said...

I had no idea a group of cats was called a clowder :) Has Charlie become even more moody? Is that even possible?

Cafe Noir biscuits! Why haven't I thought about them in years?! Are they regulars in your house? Do you have regular biscuits? For some reason, our house tends to be full of Rich Tea and Leibniz :S

I would have bought the Coconut Moons as soon as I saw them but even I felt too guilty about buying 3 boxes in less than a week. Maybe this weekend :)

At least you didn't say da bomb :D

I've seen similar youtube videos too. I think I watched a few about a young family living in a cabin in a remote part of Sweden. It looks amazing until you realise how practical and self sufficient these people are, using ever bit of ingenuity to make themselves comfortable :)

Louise Boyd said...

Annddddd, as much as I'd enjoy the solitude, I'd really miss the little things we take for granted.
Good internet connections.
Food being ten minutes away.
The security of neighbours.
Prime delivery!
Maybe a holiday cabin would be better?

Y'know, I hadn't thought about Cafe Noir biscuits, probably since I was a kid, but Em brought them up maybe a year ago when the Dalgona Coffee craze was happening, and reckoned she could make CN's with whipped coffee as frosting.
I think she's right but she hasn't done it yet.
And I'm not subtle enough to trick her into it >_<
I'll just have to live off... actually, we have no decent biscuits in the house.
Just a whole load of shortbread :(
If had my way, we'd have Digestives, Timeouts, Custard Creams, Penguins and Leibniz all the time.
Thank fuck for Tim Tams!

Buy the Little Moons. You deserve them. For existing :)

Charlie is being a tremendous brat. He won't eat any wet cat food, just dry, and he bullies everyone into giving him treats.
Screams and cries and batters his big paws against glass doors to get what he wants.
He demands playtime but then sits on his butt and refuses to do anything, but if we dare leave, the scream, crying, battering processing starts again.
It's like living with a furry toddler 0_0
I know it's because he's bored. Winter sucks for him but he's driving everyone nuts!
He's lucky we love him so much <_<

Dex said...

What kind of treats do you give Charlie?

Sandness seems like it would be a pretty good compromise. There are a few neighbours but not many, it has good internet connection and I don't think there's any difference living in Lerwick or Sandness when it comes to post. Next day delivery just isn't a thing when you live on a small island in the middle of nowhere :) Food is the one thing that would make a difference - it's too far to just quickly pop into the shops if you need something. I think the closest place is Walls shop which is maybe a 15 minutes drive (probably longer with the way I drive) and it's all single track road.

And Walls shop is just your typical country shop. We actually only have 2 supermarkets in Shetland and they are both in Lerwick (Tesco and Co-op). I'm so old that I remember when there was just the Co-op :) According to google, it was 1996 that Presto opened in Lerwick (it went through several changes before becoming Tesco). Tesco is always the much busier of the two, which is why I usually go to Co-op. Although Tesco is nearer so if it's a nice night I'll walk there. And that is the only place I can get Little Moons :)

I'm so boring :) What supermarket(s) does Blair have?

Okay, how did I miss the Dalgona Coffee craze?! Is whipped coffee as delicious as it sounds?!

Dex said...

Do you think we'll have a nice summer, Lilliputty? I think we deserve one :)

Louise Boyd said...

Oh, we definitely deserve one but I can 100% assure you it'll be the usual lone week in July of suns out guns out and then torrential rain for the other eleven weeks.
It's our lot in weather-life as the dumping ground of other countries' weather *shrug*
If I'm wrong, though, I give you permission to rub it in my face ^-^

I gotta say, Lerwick sounds... uh... rustic?
I don't think I could survive without Amazon Prime 0_0
Our celebrations involving presents would be fucked! We're last minute buyers, it's terrible =/
It's my mum's birthday on the 5th and we still haven't discussed what we're getting her.
And we probably won't for at least another week.
Even though I have ideas!
...
I don't know why we're like this 0_0

Whipped coffee, I'm afraid to tell you, is horrible.
Truly horrible. And there's so much caffeine in it, you'll vibrate for a whole day.
It is easy freakishly easy to make, though and if you put it on ice cream?
*chef's kiss*
If we had vanilla ice cream and I could be bothered, I'd be hauling ass to the kitchen and making a batch right now.
But I am lazy. And ice cream free. Woe is me -_-
I do have Caramac, though! And a stash of Ferrero Rocher, so I'm not too upset about it.

Dex said...

I'm sure you'll get something good for your mum. You're an excellent present buyer!

I'm glad you have hidden chocolate :) Do you ever want to make a giant pyramid of Ferrero Rocher like they used to have on the adverts? :) We got free packets of M&Ms at work the other day. I kept sneaking upstairs to grab packets of the peanut ones :)

But whipped coffee looks so delicious! :) I remember one day I spent in the upstairs Starbucks in Waterstones on Princes Street just drinking frappuccinos and reading books (and occasionally eating blueberry muffins). I was so jittery by the end of it that I'm surprised they didn't stop serving me :) If I ever do go on another holiday, that is probably all I'd want to do :)

I suppose I'm just used to living on an island, dealing with understocked supermarkets and delayed delivery times :)

I don't think that Shetland even had that lone week in July last year. I want so say 2020 was better but maybe that was because we were mostly trapped inside :)

Louise Boyd said...

Do you ever want to make a giant pyramid of Ferrero Rocher like they used to have on the adverts? :)

OF COURSE I DO!
Only problem is, they glued those delicious bastards together in the adverts.
I'm not eating glue, Dexterous. Nursery school was a long time ago, my palate's refined now!

Why did you get free packets of M&Ms? Suspiciousness! Were they bribing you and you just didn't know it?
And did they have the crispy M&Ms? They're the best ones.
I'm in one of those moods where I could absolutely demolish a share bag of crispy M&Ms.
I won't. But I could 0_0

I remember one day I spent in the upstairs Starbucks in Waterstones on Princes Street just drinking frappuccinos and reading books (and occasionally eating blueberry muffins). I was so jittery by the end of it that I'm surprised they didn't stop serving me :) If I ever do go on another holiday, that is probably all I'd want to do :)

That's the perfect day. Throw in a double chocolate muffin and it'd be perfect. Maybe a hot chocolate if it's a cold day.
And is that the Waterstones with the cool staircase?
I like that one.
There are certain Waterstones I'm particularly fond of and that's one of them.
Sauchiehall Street's one is my favourite, though. It's in an old bank, so there are all these awesome, arched, stainless windows everywhere.
I'm a sucker for a good window *-*

Dex said...

I remember dried PVA glue on the fingers :)

The free M&Ms were probably in lieu of a pay rise. There's not many perks in my job, that's why I ended up taking 3 x packets of the yellow peanuts and 3 x packets of the blue crispies :) But I don't like wandering the building alone in case I meet people I don't know very well and have to make awkward small talk, so I had to ask someone to come up with me :S Then they could cause a distraction while I stole more chocolate :)

I've really got a taste for them now though. I feel like going out and buying one of the large bags of each kind for the weekend :)

I'm sad that I can't remember the staircase :( There were 2 Waterstones on Princes Street, the one next to HMV and Starbucks (I think it was the West End) and another one all the way down towards the other side. The one I used to go to more often was next to HMV as it was larger and I could do my routine of DVD browsing, book browsing and frappuccino / hot chocolate drinking. It was a bit weird, they had a Starbucks on the top floor of Waterstones, and another proper Starbucks right next door. Not that I minded at the time :)

I hope the one you went to Sauchiehall Street is still there.

I did used to go to the larger Starbucks all the time. For Caramel hot chocolate and blueberry muffins. First thing in the morning before it got crowded. For some reason, I didn't think of frappuccinos as a drink for 7.30am :)

Can we do all these things again one of these days?

Believe me when I say I'm channeling all my Keanu Reevesness when I say this:

Woah...

That took you just under a month! Two days shy!
I'm impressed, Fungus; I was expecting them to be demolished in a week or under 0_0
Are you part rainbow now?
Will I find you protecting a pot of gold in your garden or something?
Oh wait, that's me protecting my Golden Nuggets from Charlie who likes to chew on the edge of the box.
Little heathen.

I was thinking about it, and there is a major chance that we crossed paths in that Waterstones.
Just as likely we didn't, but I'm choosing to believe I've been in the presence of a sugared up Dexterous reading books with a confetti of muffin wrappers littered in front of him :)
I always remember being in that place in the Winter, so if you ever noticed me, it was because a small abominable snowman scurried past you.
I wear a lot layers in the Winter =/

I don't like wandering the building alone in case I meet people I don't know very well and have to make awkward small talk, so I had to ask someone to come up with me :S Then they could cause a distraction while I stole more chocolate :)

Do I have to start doing the thing, the spy thing, and address you as Eva, Dexterous Eva?
Hot chocolate with extra marshmallows; steamed, not microwaved.
:D

Dex said...

Thanks. I think it showed a great deal of self control :D I ended up taking the box of rainbow belts to work and hiding them in my drawer. Every so often I would discreetly open it up and grab a handful. Sad to think they are no longer there :)

Charlie's attitude reminds me of a character in a collection of children's stories that we had on tape (we used to always listen to it on the drive to and from Sandness). One of the stories had to do with a spoiled giant who lived next door to a couple of children and he would say 'what's yours is mine, what's mine's my own' :)

I was in that Waterstones a heck of a lot during 2005-2007 (my lost years). If I did see you, I'm quite certain I wouldn't have mistaken you for a yeti :) Did you ever have that feeling when you saw people browsing in bookshops, going along the same shelves as you, standing relatively close for sometimes fairly long periods of time, that any moment they would leave and you would never see them again? I used to get that feeling a lot. But I am very weird :)

I'm going to order my next hot chocolate in exactly those words, aren't I? :D

Dex said...

I did end up buying a large bag each of the peanut and crispy M&Ms :)

Louise Boyd said...

Well, now I'm jealous.
I'm going to eat a secret Ferrero Rocher to spite you :)

Something tremendous happened and Charlie will deny 'til the end of time but... I lay next to him on Em's bed earlier, and he rolled over and snuggled up against me, paws stretched out on my stomach and everything, for ten minutes.
A full ten minutes of feline affection!
He even let me stroke his noise 0_0
Now, this doesn't sound particularly special but from Charlie? The least unaffectionate animal I've ever witnessed? And me, the most feline affection-deprived monster out there?
Life changing *-*
I'd forgotten what cat cuddles were like. Misty used to wrap herself round me like a scarf >_<

Dex said...

I'm the one who should be jealous! Is that the first time Charlie has given you a cat cuddle? And you have Ferrero Rocher! What a day :)

Misty sounds like the friendliest cat ever :)

Louise Boyd said...

He's nestled against me before, but that was mostly for warmth.
This was our first real cuddle sesh, and i'm still reeling.
He's back to his usual disdainful self today but still, it was momentous!
If I could send you cat endorphins in the post, I would.
They're magical *-*

Ooft, second migraine in a week.
I think my brain's mad at me =/
Are you still getting those headaches from a while back?

Ps. Just rewatched From Up On Poppy Hill, and it's still so fucking lovely and makes waaaaay much more sense now that I'm not seeing it for the first time while recovering my Norovirus =/
I remember being sincerely worried about whether they were related or not that my mum had to look it up for me :)

Louise Boyd said...

From not my

Pffft.

Dex said...

Were your sisters amazed when you told them about Charlie's affection?

I still get headaches occasionally, almost always at work and in the afternoon. I'm guessing it's the screen or lack of water or the stuffiness in the office that causes them but then I should be suffering everyday and I'm not. Weird.

It's no way like a bad as a proper migraine though so I shouldn't be complaining. I'm sorry, Lilliputty. Do migraines have a trigger or do they come on all of a sudden for no reason?

I'm ashamed to say I haven't yet seen From Up On Poppy Hill so I can only guess at what you're talking about :)

I think my parents are trying to drive me mad. They keep causing stressful activity around the house and I'm struggling to cope. I used to think that most people just wanted to live quietly but I've come to understand over the years that people are idiots who enjoy inviting stress into their lives... sorry, I'm just in a bad mood :D

Louise Boyd said...

Em actually bore witness to the fuzzy beast using me as a pillow and she was just as shocked as I was.
He was sleeping fully on me this morning, as Little Fucker's now taken up residence in my room.
He's very cyclical. A few weeks with Em, a couple days with Sarah (her room's too cold, he doesn't like it much), a couple weeks with me, the rest of the time sleeping on every available surface and not occupied by humans.
He's a weird cat; never met another like him 0_0 Which is why I think he's a god on holiday.

...sorry, I'm just in a bad mood :D

Something about the smiley guy at the end just made me burst out laughing.
Aren't family just so... everywhere? I don't know who they do it. They're single people and yet they multiply somehow 0_0
What kinda stressful activity are your crazies causing? Or are we talking just your bargain basement family lunacy?
My lot were up to that today, as well; must be something in the air *-*

Watch From Up On Poppy Hill, it's now one of my favourites. Really soft and magical without there being any fantasy in it.
I love the way Ghibli can make mundanity special.
I've decided to watch them all. Netflix has them, I'm frustrated by everything I start lately, it's time!
Except I can't watch the cat ones while Charlie's in the room because he gets freaked out. Poor stupid boy :)

Ps. Do your eyes get fuzzy after while looking at screens all day?
I've started to notice that and I don't like it =/

Dex said...

Most days my eyes are okay but yes, sometimes they do get fuzzy! I don't like it either :S

Charlie is a very lucky cat. I'm sure deep down he realises this :) Do you keep your room quite warm? I remember a few years ago (probably 10+ years otherwise I would have spent the whole time moaning to you about it), I went through a winter without a heater in my bedroom. It was hilariously awful :) I have a decent storage heater now but for some reason I never have it on a very high setting. I usually just throw more clothes on if I'm feeling cold and wear a thick dressing gown almost all year round :)

I don't mind you laughing at my bad moods :) We'be been having people working on the roof, cutting down trees, an electrician coming tomorrow. Also, my parents seem to get or make a million phone calls a day. Stuff like that :) I hope things are calm around your house at the moment.

Have you seen every Studio Ghibli film?

I haven't seen all of them. I'm only missing a few, and I still haven't watched Princess Mononoke from start to finish. I've seen it all, just not consecutively.
It's ridiculous the number of movies I've seen that way =/

Ohhhh, you're a dressing gown person!
I can't pull it off. It's like a kid wandering around in their parent's clothes =/
I just throw on as many sweatshirts, jumpers I can find until I turn into the marshmallow man from Ghostbusters and waddle myself to the nearest warm surface.
I only envy the ability to run around and the dressing gown flapping behind like wings.
I really envy that.
Even though I don't run 0_0
Do you do that? Or at least swish it around?

Okay, your current living situation sounds like fucking hell =/
I'm guessing you're going to escape to work tomorrow for some peace and quiet?
Possibly take your M&M stash with you?

Ps. New discovery: Charlie's not a fan of the galaxy projector. He's spooked by the stars.
...
Who gets spooked by stars?! >_<

Dex said...

You do have so many awesome sweatshirts/jumpers :)

I wish my dressing gown made me feel like a superhero rather than an old man :) I usually have it wrapped around me as tight as possible. It bothers me if it's even slighty loose! But Freya used to like bounding around the house in my dressing gown when she was here. I would see this dark blue mass bumping into walls. Or sometimes it would attack me accompanied by the sound of cackling. I miss Freya :)

Escaping is a bit difficult now as my mum tested positive for covid the other day. I'm still negative but don't really want to risk being around people. Fortunately they have gone to Sandness for the weekend and the work on the roof is finished so I might get a little peace and quiet for the next couple of days. And I still have some M&Ms :)

Does Charlie get spooked by a lot of things?

I really like Princess Mononoke but it isn't an easy watch compared to a lot of Ghibli films :)

Louise Boyd said...

Shit, sorry about your Mum, Dexterous :(
Is she alright?
I know it's more like flu symptoms now with everyone being vaccinated and boostered but the flu still sucks!
What are the Lateral Flow tests like? I haven't had to do one yet but they sound nasty =/

Ooh, are you gonna self-isolate in your room with a pile of sugar and just, y'know, roll around in it?
Which, by the way, I think Freya would absolutely approve of.
No wonder you miss her, a little robe-demon cackle-charging you sounds so fucking delightful >_<
Did she do that thing where your essentially turn yourself into a little ball and cocoon yourself inside the robe?
It's harder to do in a sweatshirt but still has the desired "back in the womb" effect.
...
I want an awesome cousin :(

I'm gonna watch Whisper of the Heart first, I think, but yeah, can't do that with the little monster in the room.
Emily sneezed yesterday and he peeked round the door at her with an expression of complete betrayal.
He's a comedy genius; his timing is impeccable.

Dex said...

Thanks Lilliputty. She's fine. Mild flu symptoms but that's all. I wish I was a nicer person and that the thing bothering me most wasn't how annoying it'll be having to do lateral flow tests for the next week if I want to go out :) Lateral flow tests aren't too bad once you get used to them though. I mean, I dislike having a swab poked against my tonsils and up my nose as much as the next person but it could be worse :) The part that stresses me out is the 30 minutes waiting period for the result. But I did another one today and still showing as negative.

I'm not sure about next week. January has not been a good month to be around our house for various reasons so the thought of working from home for a whole week fills me with dread. Technically I can still go into the office if I don't have any symptoms and a negative lateral flow test but I'll see what Kerry thinks. Don't want to be there if it's going to give her anxiety about catching it :S

Freya was always making me cover the both of us with my dressing gown and we had to keep very quiet like we were hiding from monsters :)

Is it stormy weather in Blair? I hope Charlie copes okay with that kind of thing!

Louise Boyd said...

You're not allowed Covid. It's been declared. There was a meeting.
So if you must go out, it is only to collect the sugar you need to keep you alive.
...
And if you see a cat. Cat petting is always allowed :)

Is it stormy in Blair?
50mph gales, my friend! A massive branch came off of one of our conifers. We were super lucky it fell the direction it did, otherwise it would've hit the house 0_0
The perils of being surrounding by very tall trees.
Charlie didn't give a single fuck, though. He was out later than usual, I dunno, letting his fur ruffle in the wind? I don't know what that boy does.
Well, right now I do because he's snoring next to me.
Cat snores are ridiculous >_<
I filmed some a couple days ago so I can keep them forever.
...
I can't believe I've never asked this before, but does Freya like cats?
I'll still love her if she doesn't but man, it'll be a blow *-*

Dex said...

Wait! Cats snore?! I'm going to have to look up videos of this :) Charlie sleeping close to you seems to be a normal thing at the moment :) I'm surprised he goes out in fierce weather though. Charlie remains an enigma to me :)

I'm assuming Freya likes cats. I have no evidence of this but surely she must! I did see her gently pet a small dog for ages one day when we were out for a walk so that's a good sign :)

We had gales as well. Yesterday was particularly bad. Parents went to Sandness and there was a power cut at about 4pm yesterday and it hadn't come back home by the time they arrived home this morning (they came home early because a house without heating in January isn't much fun).

I'm glad your house wasn't damaged by falling branches! Still, I love trees. I wish Shetland had more of them :)

I may follow your advice and get sugar tonight :)

Dex said...

Strawberry pencils got me through the first day working at home :)

Dex said...

I always think our weather starts in improve in February but according to the internet, on average it is actually our coldest month :S There is a relatively big jump in our sunlight hours so maybe that explains my perception of it being a nicer month.

Apparently May & June are our sunniest and driest months, while July & August are the warmest. Basically, it'll be about April before things start getting better.

Sorry, I don't know why I'm always going on to you about the weather :)

Louise Boyd said...

Dexterous, I'll take weather talk over the shit most people spew on a minute to minute basis, any day.
I get really pissed off with this time of year because the sun comes out and my brain gets confused.
Sun= heat.
Right?
*wanders outside in just a jumper*
...
*cue legitimate teeth chattering*
I'm not clever, and I never learn, but goddammit, I miss the sun >_< If I could live there without being burnt to a crisp, or a crunchy Mark Strong coming to murder me, I'd totally go!
I'll just have to settle for the fluffy furnace that lives on my bed currently.
Speaking of, if you want evidence of a cat snoring, just watch the video I put up on the Monthlies.
That's his I'm semi-awake and can tell someone's watching me but I'm still asleep snore.
His deep sleep snore is very breathy and adorable. Like he's trying to breath fire out of his nose but doesn't have the necessary fire in his belly :)

What did you do during this power cut?
I'm ashamed to say, I feel a little helpless when they happen =/
Hands up if you're addicted to the internet!

I think there must be something going around with parents getting disruptive work done to their houses because we're getting an evaluation for a free boiler and insulation and other housey things on Monday!
They're going to measure all the rooms and I don't like it >_<
And if the rentals go ahead with it, we'll have to empty the packrat hell-scape that is our loft and oh god, I just don't want to do it. It's going to be awful and then there will be people in our house for three days.
...
THREE DAYS.
0_0
I don't even know if I can just hide in my room or not.
I curse the day the boiler man came to our door! I curse it!

Dex said...

I think in Shetland, the best we can hope for when the sun is out is that it might warm up the house slightly :) Did I tell you I watched Sunshine for the first time a couple of months ago?

I'm so sorry, Lilliputty. That is exactly what happened here! People just turned up at the door and before I knew what was going on, my parents had agreed to all this work! Hopefully it is just an evaluation at the moment and they won't start immediately.

Oh, I didn't have to deal with a power cut. Everything was fine in Lerwick, I think it was just some of the westside and north mainland who had power cuts. The only thing I had to deal with was my parents coming back early from Sandness because they had no heating :) But I am awful when the internet goes off! Genuinely unpleasant!

Oh my god, Charlie really does make dragon snores! :D

Louise Boyd said...

Ugh, I never remember things but fuck yeah! Sunshine!
Probably my favourite sci-fi horror mission movie of all time, and the score kicks ass.
Did you like it?
How do you feel about the ending? It's a topic great debate in my house.

How unpleasant are we talking? Godzilla levels of stomping around and destroying villages or just mildly peeved? o_0

Dex said...

I liked the very ending with the family watching the sun returning to life :) To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about the last part of the film when it turns into some kind of weird horror. Is that the debate in your house? It was quite a change in tone, especially for my brain, which can only cope with very basic storytelling :)

It was such a well made film though, with an excellent cast. I probably would have been totally into a straight up slasher horror with that cast! :) And totally agree about the score :) If only every member of the crew was as sensible and practical as Chris Evans they would have completed their mission with oxygen to spare and been home in time for tea :)

Probably a level of ranting about 'what kind of world are we living in where we can't get decent internet connection' kind of unreasonable :S

Louise Boyd said...

Crispy Mark Strong is indeed our topic of debate.
I don't mind it, neither does Em but everyone else is kinda like... wtf?
Which I get. How could he have possibly survived and what's up with his mutantness and when did this become a horror movie?
All weird as shit.
But I... kinda... like it?
But I wouldn't be sad if it wasn't there?
It's weird.
But I totally agree about Chris Evans being the only one with any bloody sense in the whole movie.
HOWEVER, he did die in a really stupid way, so he may have accidentally driven everyone into the sun anyway 0_0
...
We gotta be way smarter if we're ever going further into space because as a species, we're straight up dummies!

I'm very lucky that power cuts are rare and that you and Sarah aren't in the general vicinity because she... oh god, such a whiner.
The internet even flickers and I can feel her bristling from two rooms away *-*

Dex said...

I do not deal well with the unexpected :)

I ended up watching Sunshine because I remember you saying how much you liked it. I think I would watch way more films if we lived close by and you could force me to watch them with you :)

I think the only way I'd like to travel through space is on my own, in a comfortable, roomy ship that hardly took any piloting, with an endless supply of sweet and things to watch. Maybe some kind of holosuite like in Star Trek :)

The wind was so cold today, Lilliputty. The kind that hurts your face when you walk into it :)

Louise Boyd said...

You want to go up in space on your own?
Not even with an android?
Totally alone?!
You do realise no one can hear you scream in space, right?
If a crispy Mark Strong comes for you, no help will be offered =/
...
He'll totally eat you!

Would you like to hear something ridiculous?
...
I cut my thumb on a piece of toast today.
=/
And not a little scrape. Nuh uh. A proper slice of the flesh. Blood everywhere. Including my toast. Which I still ate!
Just when I start to think I'm not the most ridiculous person alive, I get assaulted by the fucking Pillsbury Doughboy *-*
...
AM IN AN ANIME AND I DON'T KNOW IT?! O_O

Dex said...

What if the android turned on me though? Hmm, probably safer to just remain on earth :)

A piece of toast?! I wouldn't have even thought that was possible! You're going to have to describe it to me in detail so I get a proper image in my head. All I'm picturing is a slice of toast with very sharp corners but surely it can't have been that! Good choice on still eating it though :)

I haven't watched any crazy anime in a long time :)

I've often thought I would like to live in one of those 3D worlds from an N64 game. The water always looks so blue :)

Dex said...

Did I tell you about the incredibly adult thing I did the other week? I bought and installed new fire alarms for the house. I can't believe I forgot to brag about that! :)

Louise Boyd said...

With a screwdriver and everything?!
I'm impressed.
More because you went and bought them. The installing part I totally believe you could do. Buying that shit's the brain melting part. I don't know why!
I've had these picture shelves to put up in my room for all my prints and stuff, and I've had them for at least a couple years and still haven't installed them =/
Procrastination is my religion ^-^

It's doomsday tomorrow. The boiler people are coming in and measuring rooms!
They'll be in my lair and see all my stuff! I don't like it! >_<
And I have to get up at 9am -_-
Vampires don't get up before noon. Totally unacceptable.

The tale of how Lilliputty sliced her thumb open on a piece of sourdough.
...
I held it by the edge, loaded it with butter, waited a minute for meltage to occur, spread that churned goodness from edge to edge, moved my thumb slightly, and blammo! Sliceage. Blood everywhere. Shoved the wounded appendage in Em's face and whined for sympathy while she laughed her ass off at HOW HER BABY SISTER COULD SLICE HERSELF OPEN ON BREAD! 0_0
...
Then I ate it at the same time as cleaning the wound and applying a plaster.
Hygienic and delicious! ^-^
And it still hurts.
Why must fingers have SO many nerve endings. Like, I know why, logically, but stilllll. Ouch :(

Have you seen PaperMario? Sarah's friggin obsessed. Says it's the cutest game she's ever played.
You kill your opponents with paper cuts :D
Or maybe it was something else. I dunno. I'm choosing to believe paper cuts because come on? That's cute as fuck.

Dex said...

Tell me about today. Was it as disruptive as you feared? Did you have to hide? How did you cope with being up at 9am?

I've never heard of anyone slicing a digit open on a piece of toast before. Poor Maggot :) Was it a paper cut type of cut? I hate those!

I've never played Paper Mario. I was aware of it and I've seen what it looks like, but I remember being confused as to what kind of game it was. Adventure, puzzles... I did think it looked really neat though :) A ridiculous game I came across recently was PowerWash Simulator, where you go around cleaning things with a power washer :)

Well, my parents have had a lot on their minds recently, so I thought I should try and sort out the fire alarms myself. You're right, shopping around for them was very stressful, especially as I have no experience of this kind of thing! I thought it would be easy enough to find something on Amazon but everything I clicked into made me nervous that I wasn't buying the right type of alarm for the new laws. Fortunately, I found my way to a website that sold fire alarms specifically stated as compliant with the new regulations, and they sold them in bundles too e.g. 3 smoke + 1 heat alarms.

I have no idea why I'm describing this to you in so much details :) And when I say install, I mean I purchased the adhesive pads the website recommended when I bought the alarms and stuck the alarms to the ceiling. A screwdriver would have been well beyond me :)

Dex said...

As usual, I was tricked at the supermarket into buying brand new sweets wrapped in shiny packaging. This time it was raspberry marshmallows in dark chocolate.

Louise Boyd said...

Monday was... okay.
Turns out we're not gonna get it done because the it's all totally free deal turned out to be bullshit.
Of course.
So they were in the house for like twenty minutes.
All that stressing and tidying for nothing! >_<
I hate life-ing. It's the worst.
Especially on four hours sleep 0_0
I mainlined espresso and somehow survived. How the fuck did I last a whole day of university on two hours sleep? It doesn't seem possibly now x_x

PowerWasher Simulator? How? What? Huh?!
I mean, it's actually not the most ridiculous sounding game I've seen produced, and I've been coveting a game where you're given a house and you unpack all your stuff, so I can't judge but.... WHAT?!

I gotta know, Dex... you do know how to use a screwdriver, right?
Lefty loosey, righty tighty and all that shit?

Ps. Rapsberry marshmallows in dark chocolate... tell me more.

Louise Boyd said...

Pps. I hope your folks are alright. How's your mum doing?

Dex said...

My parents are fine, thanks for asking :) They both ended up getting covid but neither of them had anything more than fairly mild symptoms and are back to testing negative so really it wasn't a big deal except for the inconvenience of having to isolate, which I probably would have enjoyed immensely if I lived on my own :) Has your family managed to completely avoid it so far?

I believe I know the basic principles of screwdrivership... but really, I'm the worst in my family for things like that :) My sibling is surprisingly good at fixing things. He has like 5 million screwdrivers. He has so many random things in his room :)

I haven't checked but I have a feeling that I may have seen that unpacking game on the same Youtube channel as the powerwash simulator. Maybe they are the same genre :)

I'm really glad you won't have to deal with all the stress of people working in your house :) Also, 2 hours sleep when you were at university?! Was that because you were doing uni student type things? Or were you reading into the early hours even back then? :) I think I slept too much when I was at uni :)

Dex said...

Terrible day, Lilliputty. Someone brought homemade scones and jam and clotted cream into work today and I completely forgot to have one :(

I'm not sure how I felt about the raspberry marshmallows. They were okay but not sure if they went with the dark chocolate. I'd maybe try them again though :)

Louise Boyd said...

Was that because you were doing uni student type things? Or were you reading into the early hours even back then? :)

Dude, you know the answer to this!
I was not, and will never, be one of the traditionally cool people.
This badass nerd eats books for every meal and does it in her pyjamas under kawaii mood lighting :)
And I also slept too much during uni. Even took whole days off just so I could stay at home and not get dressed =/

HOW COULD YOU FORGET TO EAT A SCONE?!
Dexterous... this goes against your religion.
I hope the god of cake doesn't come for you when your glucose is down 0_0

Emily also has many screwdrivers. Is this something elder siblings just... have?
She has Allen keys, those saw with the curved handles, andddd blowtorches =/
Not embarrassed to say I'm a little scared of the middle child.

Dex said...

Okay, Emily is awesome :D

I'll never forgive myself for missing out on the scones! I even had to apologise to the person who made them because she came over and reminded me 3 times throughout the day. I don't know what's wrong with my brain sometimes :(

'This badass nerd eats books for every meal and does it in her pyjamas under kawaii mood lighting' - this may be one of my favourite sentences ever :)

I think I'll relive uni days tomorrow by staying home and not getting dressed :) This week has been kinda rough so I'm going to the shops tonight to buy pizza and dessert :)

Dex said...

I'm currently having a breakfast of coffee and eclairs...

Louise Boyd said...

Breakfast of FUCKING CHAMPIONS!
I'm jealous.
Of the eclairs more than the coffee, but still jealous.
It makes the Cadbury's Eclair I had an hour ago kinda pitiful -_-

Dex said...

Don't say that. I like Cadbury's Eclairs :) I don't get why they are always the last things left in selection boxes.

I keep forgetting to look for those chocolate coffee beans in Tesco :S

Louise Boyd said...

I like Cadbury's Eclairs :) I don't get why they are always the last things left in selection boxes.

I KNOW!
People are freaks.
Who wants a mini Mars Bar or something instead of an Eclair? =/
Don't leave me alone with a selection box, though. I'll either skitter away with obscenely full handfuls or cherry pick the best ones 0_0
It's like with ice cream pots. If the flavour has nuggets of goodness, I'm gonna go mining for sugary gold and leave everyone else in the dust *shrug*

Current food addiction? Sugar Free Polos.
They're just awesome. Weirdly cold and minty good.

How did this morning start? Eclairs and coffee again or did we change the baked good of choice? A Religieuse perchance? Or maybe a Petit Fours!
...
Everyone section of this is about food.
I think I'm hungry.

Dex said...

Unfortunately, it was a work day so I only ever have a cup of tea for breakfast. And I usually only remember to eat my lunch about 3pm. I don't know how I get through a day :)

Why do you tell me about these unattainable baked goods? Please don't tell me your sisters have made you a Religieuse before! They look and sound amazing :) I wish we had a fancy pastry shop up here. Did you tell me about coffee eclairs? I suppose you must have because you're the only one who tells me about these things :)

I haven't had a Polo in ages. I'm one of those monsters who like my mints to be fruit flavoured (which I always thought seemed to defeat the purpose of them being mints). Like green and orange Tic Tacs, maybe a berry flavoured Smint :) Fruit Polos were a bit weird though. Why were they so sticky?

Have you ever got around to trying your waffle maker?

Louise Boyd said...

I have not tried the waffle maker yet. I am the worst. But I've struck a deal with the siblings that on Pancake Day, I have to use it or they're going to take it away =/
Brutal but absolutely fair.
And I was the one who told you about coffee eclairs, because I'm a bastard and they're wonderful.
Coffee crème pâtissière should be given as some sort of elixir of life, it's that bloody good *-*

:O
How dare you speak ill of fruit polos!
Yes, you have to eat the entire roll in one crunch because they're so sticky they can't be separated but hell! Who needs all their teeth?!
I am SHOCKED, Dexterous. SHOCKED.
Next you'll be telling me the lemon mint ones were barbaric and not the confusing flavour sensation I could never figure out if I actually liked!

How do you not eat until 3pm?
I would keel over if went that long between waking up and eating.
When Maggot's awake, her stomach's awake x_x

Dex said...

I was meaning to ask, has your toast cut healed? Are you now having to adapt your toast handling technique?

I bet as soon as you start using the waffle maker, you'll turn into some kind of pancake artist. I'm already jealous of what you'll be having on Pancake Day :) Also, I didn't realise Pancake Day was so late this year! Just because I say a photo of one today, I really want a crepe with some lemon juice and sugar. How can something so simple be so delicious :)

In my dream world, there's a quiet coffee shop around the corner where we meet up for hot chocolates and coffee eclairs and all those other things you tell me about :)

I'm sorry, Lilliputty. I deserve to be demoted down the sugar rank :) But I actually quite liked the lemon mint polos so I'm not a complete monster :)

I suppose that is quite a while to go without food when you're awake bust as you have probably figured out by now, I have no problem stuffing my body with junk the rest of the time :)

Dex said...

For some reason, learning how Emily makes up her playlist for the year gives me a warm feeling inside :)

Louise Boyd said...

She's so bloody organised but she has great taste in music, so I'll forgive the way she annoys me :)

The toast cut has healed! Took ages, though. I take fucking forever to heal and then I have silly red marks leftover as war wounds -_-
And I bruise easy and they happen without me knowing. There's currently a 50p sized bruise on my upper calf. Do I know how it got there? Not one itty bit =/

Can this coffee and eclairs cafe be a coffee, eclairs, and cats cafe?
I really want to rub a kitten's belly while imbibing sugar.

I really want a crepe with some lemon juice and sugar. How can something so simple be so delicious :)

I heartily disagree!
But that's my mum's pancake of choice.
She doesn't really understand traditional pancakes. I think it's because she's more Belgian than I am.
I'm all about a drop scone smothered in raspberry jam. With butter, though. It makes no sense without the butter.
...
I think Sarah's gonna bake this weekend, I'll keep you updated!

Dex said...

I wish I was more organised :)

Maybe bruising from your exercises? Do you ever get those slight tears under your fingernails where it feels like the skin has come aware from the nail so it feels really sensitive and sore? I've got one at the moment. It happens every so often and it's always my left index finger. I regretted trying to peel an orange with it today :)

If Maggot wants cats at the fancy cake and coffee cafe, then of course there will be cats :) Apparently there's a cat island in Japan, which really is a tiny island full of cats :S

I think crepes with lemon and sugar is a nostalgia thing for me. That's what my mum always used to make for us on pancake day :) I don't think anyone in my family even knows how to make a dropped scone! I was so deprived during my childhood :)

You better keep me updated on Sarah's baking :D

Louise Boyd said...

Ughhh nostalgia food. I love nostalgia food.
Even if it doesn't taste as good as it did as a kid, it still gives you the warm and fuzzies.
I feel that way every time we have coffee cake.
It's essentially a Bolo de Bolacha but the Belgian version because it's gran's recipe.
Layers and layers of vanilla biscuits and sweet coffee icing.
So frickin' goooooood and turns me adolescent almost immediately.

This finger cut slice ouch thing does not compute.
But if I don't cut my nails soon enough, they start to feel really pressurey, and like they're going to pop off =/
Are you accidentally paper cutting yourself behind your nails? That's the only thing that makes sense other than your x-men claws are trying to escape!

Dex said...

I would call it more of a finger/nail rip. It can happen to me doing the simplest of things, like turning on a switch. The slightest misjudgment and I can end up with a small tear right under the tip of my fingernail that I won't even notice until I do something like use hand sanitiser and feel the sting. Aren't you glad I go into so much detail about the important things :)

That looks and sounds so, so good! Is the Belgian coffee cake one of your gran's magical secret recipes that she keeps locked in a book?

Dex said...

We had some sun today. And jam doughnuts. So a relatively good day :)

Louise Boyd said...

Your poor hands!
I think you gotta moisturise, my friend.
Moisture is skin's best bud.

Were the jam doughnuts from Tesco... ?
Because they're actually pretty awesome and I. am. jealous.
Sarah has not baked :(
I'm going to have to make do with a chunky KItKat and dreams of coffee cake.
We do have the recipe for that, though! I don't know how we wheedled it out of her but we did and it gets made at least once a year.
Even I could make it.
Gotta love a no-bake dessert :)

Dex said...

I sometimes think my hands are so vulnerable because I've avoided manual labour all my life :)

Maybe Sarah will bake next weekend :) I sometimes read no-bake dessert recipes and think 'even I could make this'. Of course, I never do :S

I think the doughnuts were actually from Co-op rather than Tesco. But they were okay. At least they were reasonably fresh :) So disappointing when you open a bag of doughnuts and they are starting to go stale!

Was it a normal Kit Kat chunky? Also, have you ever tried an American sweet called Airheads? Someone brought some to work and I thought they were pretty good.

Dex said...

I really need to buy some new shoes. Any recommendations? You always know so much about these things :)

Dex said...

Kerry and I had to cope with a ton of people in 'our' office today. People have been invited to come in for lunch today and Friday. At least I got some bacon puffs out of it.

Louise Boyd said...

What in the world is a bacon puff and where can I find one?

Shoe recommendations?!
Depends on what kinda shoe. I really only know about trainers and my knowledge is solely based on what I like and what's comfortable =/
I need details before I can advise!

Airheads? Are they kinda like Skittles but bubblegummy?
I've heard of them but never ingested. But they're chewy, fruity sweets so I'll stick 'em in my mouth no questions asked.
Gummy sweets are my greatest weakness 0_0
Don't leave me alone with a bag of Fruit Pastilles, they will be devoured in minutes.

Dex said...

Airheads were more like refresher bars, except without the sherbet in the middle. Definitely chewy and fruity though :)

A bacon puff is a bite sized pastry brushed with some mustard and a square of bacon embedded into the top. They are really good :)

I only wear trainers too, for everything - walking, working, socialising... Except I have no idea about shoes. I'll occasionally be given a pair by my family which I will wear until they are almost destroyed, and then hope that someone gives me another pair :)

Louise Boyd said...

Okayyyyyy, then my recommendation would be Nike, if your budget is higher.
I'm a big fan of their Daybreak series. Super comfortable and come in many colours.
If you're looking for something a little cheaper, Reeboks are always a win.
I'm a little obsessed with their Club C's right now:

https://www.zalando.co.uk/reebok-classic-club-c-revenge-unisex-trainers-whitemaroon-redchalk-re015o0af-a11.html

New Balance are real comfortable, as well. I'm obsessed with their 327's:

https://www.zalando.co.uk/new-balance-327-unisex-trainers-gelbweiss-ne215o08d-t11.html

If those don't work, let me know! I'm a trainer weirdo, I'm sure I can find you something 0_0

Ps. I want a bacon puff and then an airhead immediately afterwards. That sounds fucking awesome!

Dex said...

Thanks Lilliputty. You're the best. I love that you're a trainer weirdo :)
And you have amazing taste in everything! I wish I had your fashion sense!

I'm the worst for making decisions on what to buy :S I usually just look around for ages and wait for the feeling to hit me that something is right. Most of the time, I end up with nothing :)

I'll definitely look at the Nike Daybreaks as well since I probably won't mind spending a bit more on a pair of trainers if I like them. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for so I'll probably need to ask your opinion again :) Definitely something comfortable though :)

Do you normally wear trainers around the house?

Dex said...

I'm trying to convince my cousin to bring Freya here for the Easter Holidays. It looks like there could be a chance :)

Louise Boyd said...

Yay, Freya!
Will you do an Easter egg hunt?
I fucking loved those as a kid.
I got so mad when we stopped doing them because Em and Sar grew out of it but I hadn't yet.
I felt robbed! >_<

I wear trainers in the warmer months because my extremities are always cold and trainers don't keep my feet warm.
But when I do wear them, I always feel more like a whole person?
When I'm wearing slippers, I still feel 1/4 in my pyjamas.
D'y'know what I mean?
Is that crazy?
It's the same when I wear joggers instead of jeans.
I changed into them mid-afternoon yesterday because my stomach was sore and it instantly made me feel sleepy.
...
That is weird. Fuck! Why am I like this?!

Get Daybreaks! Or OG Adidas Gazelles (not the new ones, they suck). Or Adidas dragons! They're pretty comfortable but not the prettiest.
I love trainers so much 0_0

Dex said...

It's sad, we hardly ever did Easter egg hunts. But my temperament was probably all wrong for it. Chocolate should be brought to me rather than the other way around. I was a monster! I bet it's something Freya would love though :)

I don't think the slippers/joggers thing is weird at all. I remember at the start of lockdown when we were all told to work from home, one of the bits of advice we were given was to still wear our work clothes during the day rather than spend the whole day in our pyjamas. Apparently it helps you to stay sane :)

I really like the look of the OG Adidas Gazelles!

Louise Boyd said...

If I had to choose a trainer, the one I could only wear for the rest of my days, it'd the OG Gazelles.
I lurk on eBay all the time to get different colours.
I basically live in them all Summer.
They're the best!
But I think you can only get them secondhand now, because Adidas "upgraded", and I don't know how you feel about secondhand shoes!

...my temperament was probably all wrong for it. Chocolate should be brought to me rather than the other way around. I was a monster!

What does that mean?!
Did you just flump down on your toddler butt and refuse to hunt?!
...
Actually, yeah, I could see that :D

You should absolutely do an Easter egg hunt for Freya.
But make it dinosaur eggs!

Dex said...

Freya does love her dinosaurs :D

I'm sure I did my fair share of flumping down :) But you know how it is when people expected you do be competitive over something when you were a kid. My effort level went down to about 0.01%, probably so I didn't have to feel like too much of a loser :)

I'd probably be okay with a secondhand pair. I just think they look really cool and almost never think that way about anything I'm wearing, so now feel like I need them in my life at some point :) See, this is why I ask you things, because you're the one person who get me thinking about what I like :)

Louise Boyd said...

Yes! Get the Gazelles! We can be trainer buddies >_<
What colour you thinking?
Something bright or something neutral?

Well, your complete lack of viciousness when it comes to competition (we used to tackle each other during hunts =/ ) will come in handy for a Freya hunt because it's vastly important that the little queen find all the eggs.
Vastly.
If she doesn't have a full basket then you have not done your Uncle-y duty!
Also, did you know you can make S'mores in the microwave?
I feel like this is something Freya needs to be made aware of.
Or is that bad? I'm not actually how much sugar you're allowed to feed a child.
Is it like a mogwai situation? Not after midnight or they'll multiply?

Dex said...

Probably something neutral. Seems more my style (I'm very boring, in case you hadn't noticed). Although some of those brighter coloured pairs look awfully pretty :) How many pairs of Gazelles do you own? Do you have all the colours?

Freya would get all the eggs :) But she has such a nice temperament that she would insist on sharing them with us :)

This is why I need to get you and Freya together! I've never made S'mores, not even in the microwave. These seem like essential life skills! Also, you've been making S'mores in the microwave?!

Excess sugar never did me any harm...

Dex said...

Happy Pancake Day, Lilliputty! :D

Dex said...

I forgot to ask, did you use your waffle maker?

Louise Boyd said...

Nope :(
I totally forgot it was Pancake Day >_<
Sarah brought it up after dinner and my brain sorta spasmed because I made a point of knowing the exact day it was on and of course I went and bloody forgot it!
My brain is exceptionally useless sometimes.
Did you make pancakes? Sate that lemon and sugar crêpe craving?

Dex said...

Well, you must have had other things on your mind, like your monthly post. It must be pretty stressful getting that ready to go!

No, I was ridiculously late in realising it was pancake day as well. We should both have pancakes this weekend :)

Louise Boyd said...

It was very stressful because I did basically nothing until two days before it needed posted.
But that's the way it always happens.
I am the queen of procrastination.
Also, I kinda dread doing it now.
I have nothing to say >_<

Pancakes or waffles! This weekend! Yes!
I shall be drowning mine in jam and golden syrup.
Choose your poison.

Dex said...

I don't believe you could ever run out of interesting things to say. But maybe you should take a break. I hate to think of you dreading it :(

I do love syrup on my pancakes. Is syrup and butter a weird thing for a crepe? I have a tendency to cook my crepes in a ridiculous amount of butter and then pour the remnants over the finished article :S

Louise Boyd said...

The ONLY time I accept butter on a pancake is when it's with jam.
Every other time is a pancake travesty.
Sorry, bud :)
But I'm a monster, I used to eat these pancakes with chunks of cookie through them from Tesco.
They were terrible but I couldn't stop stuffing my face with them 0_0

I think about taking a break from the Monthlies but every month I just keep finding awesome stuff, and if I was showing my art on the internet, I'd want some fan out there to help me show it around.
So, I can't stop! Even for a month >_<
I'm just being a baby, though. The only reason I dread it is because I'm lazy about it.
If I was more organised, it wouldn't be a big deal and I wouldn't threaten my hands with carpal tunnel at the end of every month *-*

Do you know what's disgusting?
...
A coconut Bueno.
I had SUCH high hopes and then I nearly spit it out after the first bite =/
A travesty, I tell you!

Dex said...

Our pancake tastes are so different! :)

But you like Kinder Buenos and you like coconut... I wonder what went wrong in the process of putting those two things together?!

So do you just add to list of things throughout the month as you come across them and then organise it all in the last few days? You're probably being way too hard on yourself though. Most people don't even bother to remember what they enjoyed the previous day. I am probably one of those people :)

Do you ever look over your previous blog posts? I think it would be quite cool to look back over a detailed record of the things you enjoyed at a certain point in your life.

Louise Boyd said...

WE MADE MOTHERFUCKIN' WAFFLES!
...
And they were excellent.
Jam is my current favourite topping.
That will probably change when we make gingerbread ones :)
Waffles are the best, everybody should have a waffle maker.
Mine is obscenely pink:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Global-Gizmos-35570-Waffle-Maker/dp/B00A1RLUG0/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3ES7K8HRI0URN&keywords=pink+waffle+maker&qid=1646531960&refinements=p_76%3A419158031&rnid=419157031&rps=1&sprefix=pink+waffle+maker%2Caps%2C454&sr=8-3

Don't know why I wanted a Barbie-coloured one but I did =/

Oh, I read back my Monthlies pretty often.
It's just a collection of stuff I love, so it's, yeah, a nice reminder of things I've probably forgotten about by the time the next Monthlies comes around but still think is cool as fuck.
It is pretty cringe-worthy sometimes, though.
I say the stupidest shit 0_0

Dex said...

Not only pink but it makes the waffles heart shaped too! :D

Are you strawberry jam or raspberry jam kind of person? Also, was the jam homemade? In my head, I picture you cupboards being filled with jars of homemade jam but I've probably made that up :)

How long have you been doing the monthlies?

Louise Boyd said...

Raspberry jam! Raspberry jam! RASPBERRY FRICKIN' JAM! >_<
...
I'll accept strawberry, though. Especially in Tiptree's Wild Strawberry form.
And any flavour of jam, really.
I'll happily eat it with a spoon straight from the jar. No carbs needed. And you know how much I love carbs 0_0
You?

Oh, and the jam was indeed homemade.
The rentals kinda highjacked Em's yearly jam making bonanza last year and now we have an obscene number of jars.
It's fucking amazing *-*
I reheated a waffle heart section in the toaster and ate it with some today.
So gooooood.

The Monthlies have been happening for at least two years? Maybe three? I'd look it up but ye olde laptop is cranky right now and it really doesn't like the Monthlies. Gets very upset. Huffs dragon fire out the fan.
Bloody drama queen :)

Dex said...

Is it terrible to say that I don't really eat jam often enough to have an opinion on which kinds I prefer? :S We have never been a jam household, or even a marmalade household, even though I don't mind either. I should really start getting more into toast and the things you can put on it :)

Also, homemade raspberry jam sounds amazing! So Emily has jam making jamboree every year? I bet she comes up with so many ideas for jams! Is she ever not making things? :)

I'm so glad the waffle making was a success. Now your sisters don't need to confiscate the waffle maker :) Toasted heart shaped waffles and jam is the meal of champions :)

On my old laptop, I used to open up your Monthlies and would then make a cup of tea while I waited for the page to load. It had occasionally finished loading by the time I was done :)

Louise Boyd said...

See, this is why I need to resize images instead of just lazily dumping giant images into a mega-post =/
Will I do this?
NEVER! >_<

Not a jam household.
...
Not... a jam... household?
...
*glitching brain noises*
...
WHAT DO YOU PUT ON YOUR TOAST, DEXTEROUS?!
If you just say butter, I may cry for you *-*
You need to find out your conserve preference!

Dex said...

It has been much better since I got my chromebook :)

Even worse than butter, Lilliputty. I would sometimes put honey on my toast (I can hear your gag reflex being activated from here). Do you ever put peanut butter on toast? Is that a thing that works?

Do you ever make french toast? I've tried a couple of times in the past but it has never come out quite right. I keep thinking it's something I would enjoy if I mastered how to make it. I could add it to my repertoire of pancakes and... well, just pancakes really :)

Louise Boyd said...

Peanut butter is excellent on toast! Honey on toast is a crime against bread.
But I am biased because honey tastes like a bee vomit =/
Which it is!
You bunch of weirdos eating bee spit 0_0

French toast is one of the few things I can cook.
The trick is: lots of butter and medium sliced white bread.
And don't bother using milk.
Some people put it in the egg mix but meh, it makes little difference.
Do you like yours sweet or savoury?
I'm usually savoury but I ate it with jam a while ago and it was like eating a hot doughnut.
I wanna try it stuffed with Nutella or custard at some point in my life *-*

Dex said...

Sweet or savoury... this is me you are talking to :D What would you put on it if it were savoury?

Thank you for the tips! I might try making it this weekend since my parents are away. Along with peanut butter on toast :)

Louise Boyd said...

Okay, I don't know if this a thing you would even consider eating, but in the Boyd household, we eat French toast with Branston Pickle.
Don't know why, and I wouldn't eat the stuff with anything else, but with fried bread? *chef's kiss*
I never even thought about eating it sweet until a few years ago because Pinterest threw a cinnamon roll version at me and I nearly licked the computer screen 0_0
Before that, my only experience of it sweet was a really gross but infamous scene in the movie Road Trip:

https://youtu.be/HNfciDzZTNM

So nasty >_<

How can you never have had peanut butter toast?
Are you an alien?
Where did you come from?
Are you a Plutonian? o_O

Dex said...

I don't even need to click on that link. I know exactly the scene you are talking about :D

I went through a phase in primary school where I was obsessed with cheese and Branston pickle sandwiches! I think eating them so much is eventually what put me off and I haven't had Branston pickle since. But it has been a long time and you do have excellent taste so...

Lilliputty, I haven't even had beans on toast before! I might very well be a Plutonian.

Louise Boyd said...

That is because beans are gross and they should never be allowed to despoil perfectly good carbs ^-^

Dex said...

I can just about have beans with a cooked breakfast but have never had them in any other scenario.

Weekend, Lilliputty. And it's my parents' Sandness weekend too so I can do what I want. Which is usually junk food and random watching :)

Dex said...

Making pancakes tonight :)

Louise Boyd said...

I'd say I was jealous butttttt I had pizza, so I'm not :)

*is lying*

Would you ever eat a pancake cake?
Like, layer upon layer of crepes stacked and covered in something good tasting?

Dex said...

A pancake cake?! Does such a thing even exist? If not, you should get Emily to create it! As if you couldn't tell, the answer is 'yes, I would totally eat that' :D What would the good tasting covering be?

What was the pizza topping? I must know :)

Louise Boyd said...

I'm just gonna leave this here and move out of the splash zone.
Y'know, for when your head explodes :)

https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/tiramisu-crepe-cake/"

Ps. Ham, mascarpone, capers. It's mine and Em's concoction. Sounds weird, tastes fantastic ^-^

Dex said...

My head did just about explode :D Have you shown Emily? What is her view? I feel like everyone should be on board with this :)

I don't think I've ever had capers. But I know that the two of you would never make anything that wasn't delicious :) Do you prefer thick crust or thin crust? Such an important question :)

I bought these things at the weekend called Pop Dots. Basically bite sized doughnuts. Would definitely recommend :) I went for the pink strawberry flavoured kind.

Louise Boyd said...

Oh, Em knows all about crepe cake but like a normal human, she refuses to make that many pancakes for a single cake.
I can't really blame her =/
I could make it but... lazy :D
I'd be more like to make a single pancake and drench it in kahlua!

Thin crust. We like a good crunch.
Well, I actually like all pizza thickness but I don't get to make that decision =/
I want garlic butter stuffed crusts, Dexterous >_<
Also, a Pop Dot. They sound frigging immense.
What other flavours were there?
See, this is why I gotta go to Tesco. Nobody brings this fun stuff home.
Sarah did make a banana bundt cake with vanilla frosting, yesterday. S'goooooood.

Dex said...

It is a lot of pancakes! Maybe a smaller version of the crepe cake. Or a few pancakes with a tiramisu on the side :) I'm really curious to try kahlua. What is it good in/on?

I definitely prefer thin crust pizza too. I've hardly ever had stuffed crusts, let alone a garlic butter one! For some reason a stuffed crust just seems like too much going on for me to deal with :) Probably the same reason that I only ever go for one or two toppings. Ugh, I'm so boring :) Is pizza delivery a thing in Blair? Nobody up here does it.

It was actually Co-op this time for the Pop Dots - confectionery items in shiny, new packaging inevitably end up in my basket :) I think the only other flavour I saw was white chocolate and caramel, but I have a thing for pink icing on my doughnuts :)

More bundt cake! Your family make the best things!

Louise Boyd said...

Kahlua's good in everything.
Coffee. Hot chocolate. Ice cream. Milkshakes. Probably cereal, I imagine.
There's something I gotta tick off the bucket list!

Pizza is so not a thing in Blair. Delivery in general isn't. And our fast food places are truly awful =/
But I do have fond memories of eating deep fried pizza as kid :)
I'd probably just dissolve into a pile of ash now if I tried 0_0
Have you ever had it?
It's insane.

So... your dream doughnut is the Homer doughnut, yeah?
That's a damn fine doughnut.
As long as the icing is good.
I don't know what some people do to icing but tasteless gunk is not what I want on my deep fried goods >_<
Personally, I want a Reese's Pieces doughnut. I go crazy for that shit 0_0

Dexxxxx, I have quadricep tendonitis in both kneeeeeees >_<
Apparently this body was not made for deep lunges and squatting =/
...
It acheesssssssssss.

Dex said...

That sounds really painful :( Your exercises must be way more strenuous than my exercises! Are you secretly super fit? I'm beginning to think you are :) Mine are the keep fit equivalent of a gentle garden stroll... really, I just do enough to keep my body from completely giving up :)

Have you ever had a Reese's Pieces doughnut, or is that an unattainable fantasy? :) I have a feeling that you may totally disagree with me on this but, in my opinion, the icing on doughnuts should always be the dry kind of icing. Wet icing just doesn't work for me at all. I'm such a weirdo :) I wish we had a doughnut shop up here.

I don't think I've ever had a deep fried pizza but I'm pretty sure the fish and chip shops up here used to sell them. They probably still do. I've never had a deep fried Mars Bar either. None of these things particularly appeal to me but I feel like I should try them :)

I'm definitely going to keep a look out for Kahlua. Maybe not for my cereal though :)

Louise Boyd said...

Don't worry, I'll try it in cereal and report back :D
A hit for the team I am most happy to take.

What do you mean by "dry icing"?
Do you mean like when it gets a kinda frosted look to it?
Because I concur, but I like it kinda wet too =/
And I have had a Reese's Pieces doughnut! It was a Krispy Kreme one and it rocked.
Just the right amount of salty and sweet.
But I can only get one if I go to Glasgow or learn how to make doughnuts >_<
Arghhh life is so hard!

Ps. I'm really not fit. I feel like I should be by now because I've been working out properly for a couple of years but nah, still a soft human :)
I think it's because food is awesome and only super fit people who solely eat kale look like those people on tv =/
Only eating healthy food sounds fucking terrible x_x

Dex said...

Sort of when the icing is firmer and not sticky when you touch it. Does that make sense? Probably not since I'm the worst at explaining things :)

Krispy Kreme is something that remote island dwellers can only dream of :) I've only had them once, the last time I visited Aberdeen. Sometime this year I will visit Aberdeen to see Freya and buy doughnuts. I bet she would eat them all though :) Are there any other flavours of doughnuts you've had that would make me jealous?

I tried eating healthily once. Lasted about a day and a half, got a dreadful headache, and by the end of the 2nd day I was stuffing my face full of junk :) But I think it's good to do exercises. I'm secretly glad you're still a soft human :)

Dex said...

Forgot my parents are on the boat to Aberdeen tonight. Maybe they can bring me back something...

Louise Boyd said...

...
...
...
WAIT!

Is that something a tiny bundle of feral, doughnut stealing, dinosaur-loving, queenly joy?!

Dex said...

I wish :D But they're in America just now. My cousin has the travel bug so Freya is ridiculously well travelled for her age :) Parents were actually in Aberdeen for mundane passport stuff (basically my mum needed to get her foreign passport updated - normally she would have to go to the embassy in London but they were doing some sort of outreach thing). They're already on their way back so I have to get up stupidly early for a Sunday to pick them up from the boat :S

Louise Boyd said...

Ugh, America's so lucky!
They better give her back. She's so stinkin' cute, I just know they'll try and keep her.

I'm guessing the passport stuff went okay seeing as their heading back to your tiny island, hopefully with gifts :D
Travel gifts are the best. Even if it's something tiny. Like a random chocolate bar. It's still awesome and I can't even explain why.
The rentals brought me back a tiny glass dinosaur the last time they went away and I fucking love it >_<

Dex said...

Thanks, Lilliputty. I think they managed to get done what they needed to do - but they never brought me back anything! Fortunately, I took advantage of waking up early to go and buy myself some fresh doughnuts from the supermarket :)

What kind of dinosaur? :)

Louise Boyd said...

Leaving out necessary doughnut details, Dexterous.
You know I like to live vicariously through your sugar abuse >_<

I don't know what kind of dinosaur she is but she's small and clear with spiky red plates on her back and the end of her tail.
Oh, and she has little green leggies and she's named Circe :)
My funko of Neville Longbottom protects her. With him being such a gentle, herbaceous boy, he knows where all the good greens are.
...
Makes me so angry he came out of such a vile being's head -_-
