Don't listen to the government.
Stay the fuck home.

It’s pride month! 🏳️‍🌈And it’s time to remember how pride started= The morning of the 28 of June 1969, when the gay community of Greenwich decided they had enough of police raids. Something interesting that I didn’t mention in the slides is that often gay bars were owned by the mafia, who would use them to smuggle alchol and drugs in exchange for a space to survive and live in peace for the LGBTQ community. I love the world “pride”, coming from the protest in 1970, when the LGBTQ parade was shouting “say it loud, gay is proud!”. We have come a long way since then, but unfortunately the LGBTQ community still goes through hard times all around the world. Even in Italy, they are not welcome by everyone (you can find data on this in one of my old posts). There is still so much to do, for the perfect integration and acceptance of the enormous variety of sexual preferences and gender identities, but we will get there eventually. I will try to make more post for pride month, I believe in the importance of awareness and there is no better way for spaghetti politics to do it then this. Please forgive me if I forgot something important in this story. I suggest you go read the story of Marsha P. Johnson and the other stonewall protesters, because they really are an inspiration for all. #pride#pridemonth#gaypride#lgbtq#Lgbtqcommunity#marshapjohnson#stonewallriots#stonewall#greenwichvillage#news#history#gayhistory#lgbtqhistory#newyork

Keegan Carter // asking for objectivity in Robert Fuller's case

June 16, 2020

#JusticeForRobertFuller #RobertFuller #Palmdale This conversation that took place on June 12th in Palmdale, CA shows my ask that officials remain objective and unbiased until they have obtained all the facts revolving around Robert Fuller's death. It is in the public's best interest for them not to sway perception and infer suicide without an investigation and a full understanding. This is out of respect for Robert Fuller and his family as well as those who have suffered from, directly or indirectly, from suicide. The circumstances are odd enough to require further investigation. Again, I personally do not know what happened. My goal was to recommend complete objectivity until things are fully understood regarding his death, before steering the conversation in the direction of suicide. source: @foxla SHARE • SHARE • SHARE

Just in case you thought Britain was exempt from racist brutality at the hands of the police.
Or from racism at all.

I highly suggest reading the replies to this tweet and googling Youness Bentahar's case.

I’ve been going through a whirlwind of emotion for the past two weeks following the murder of George Floyd. The experience has felt like grieving, it’s hard to describe. I’ve been deeply saddened, angry, frustrated and exhausted, but at the end of it all I’ve found optimism, because it feels like we are finally being seen and heard after fighting for so long. The consequences of neglecting racial inequality in America have begun to show and if you think that this issue doesn’t apply to the UK you are terribly wrong. This country is just as guilty, in particular with it’s reluctance to confront it’s ugly past, the effects of which still impact many black and brown people today. The deaths of our black brothers and sisters as a consequence of racism should not have to be the requirement for people to express empathy in regards to racial inequality. Black lives matter, black lives have always mattered. Racism is insidious within our society and fighting it requires much more than posting a black square on your socials. Advocate for your black brothers and sisters, listen to their stories, educate yourselves, learn your history and donate to causes that are actively fighting against racism. - Follow the links in my bio for more resources and places to donate to. #blacklivesmatter #blm #comics #illustration #blackcreative #drawing #art #racism

This has been on my mind a lot lately as people are already beginning to get sick. In an ideal world of course people would not need to be out in the streets literally FIGHTING for their lives and rights during a pandemic, but this is not an ideal world. Black populations were already facing a disproportionate level of Covid deaths due to long standing social and economic inequities, but how can we expect them to NOT react to the racist violence that is prevalent in every part of America. This country and its deeply problematic financial priorities have put these people between a rock and a hard place and I’m proud of and inspired by the people who have not let that deter them. There are resources for donating to Covid relief in the link in my bio, but many of the bail and BLM organizations I’ve already advertised are using their money to try and help people who may get sick by keeping them supported and out of jail. Give if you can. #blacklivesmatter
